Tom Cruise opens up a little bit in talking about his split from Nicole Kidman, though he has only nice things to say about his wife of nearly 10 years. ''I had great times with Nic,'' he tells Marie Claire magazine. ''We had some great times. And that's what I think about.'' He's still cryptic, though, about the reasons behind their split in early 2001. ''Whatever happened, happened, OK? You move on.''

He's moved on, of course, to ''Vanilla Sky'' costar Penelope Cruz, and while he says he has no plans to marry his squeeze of close to two years, he says he does enjoy ''doing romantic things'' for her. For instance? ''I surprise Penelope with different things. She'll come home, and I'll have her favorite kind of food made, have a bath drawn. I like doing stuff like that. She likes my food, so I cook for her,'' he tells Marie Claire. ''It's always the little things I like in a relationship.'

``I think it'd be wonderful actually,'' Cruise said at a press conference in Singapore on Tuesday. Cruise and Kidman settled their multi-million dollar divorce in August and agreed to share custody of their adopted children Isabella, 8, and Connor, 6. Cruise, who's emphasized that the romance with Cruz blossomed after the filming of "Vanilla Sky," added about his trip Down Under, ``I'm looking forward to it. It's a place where my children live. My children are half Australian.''

There's also lots of stuff on Cruise/Cruz/Kidman, including the alleged reason that Cruise/Cruz broke up, here. I'm sure there's more stuff in re my previous post; what I mentioned was discussed on FT back in the day, even in the People I'd Like to Kick In the Teeth thread, but this is all I have time to search for. Oh and over on Rex Features are tons of photos of them; their relationship was also one big photo op. There are even photos of the them in wedding garb, when Tom was floating the 'she's pregnant'/marriage possibly rumors. This is when he/Komodo Kingsley was training Lee Anne to take Pat's place as uber-PR person.

Not sure how I feel about the dress and especially the tights, but I really like the color. Most brunettes look really good in brown, but not too many people wear it.

Bumping into the ex at CAA party[/color]

IT was an awkward moment at Creative Artists Agency head Bryan Lourd's house party Friday night that kicked off Oscar weekend when Tom Cruise and his ex, Penelope Cruz, bumped into each other.

A Page Six spy reports: "Penelope tapped him on the shoulder and timidly asked, 'Tom?' Tom turned around, got visibly flustered and awkwardly said, 'Oh, hey. Hi,' and gave her a small, distant hug before turning back around to his friends. It was weird."

That is weird - didn't they basically split on good terms? I swear he had visited her and her family since the breakup. Maybe, like Katie, Tom is supposed to pretend that he's never been with anyone else before.
