I saw this last night and didn't think it was as bad as I'd heard it was going to be. I guess going in with zero expectations is a good thing.
I think the thing with Kurt at the end is that he couldn't figure out how to shut them off, so in desperation he just did what he could and then the others worked with that. (Remember the way the propellers were spinning originally would have thrown debris back at them.)
I couldn't get over how old and frail Richard Dreyfuss looked. His voice even sounded different. Sad.
