Just an observation, but the focus of the publicity seems to be on Johnny and Keira this time around. Orlando has sort of fallen by the way side. Not a bad thing.

Just an observation, but the focus of the publicity seems to be on Johnny and Keira this time around. Orlando has sort of fallen by the way side. Not a bad thing. Probably because Johnny is the main draw and Keira was nominated for an Oscar and getting quite a hype. Orlando has been in two flops this year and that's not good. Topic?I missed Pirates when it first came out and I only managed to watch it a couple of months ago and I was so surprised at how much I enjoyed it.When I was little, there was this book that I loved to read about a little black guy, a machinist and their adventures with pirates. It was like taking a trip back to those days and it felt awsome. Johnny's slightly gay character was so funny and I agree with whoever said that Captain Jack will go down as one of the best characters ever created. He was excellent, but then I don't have but praise for Johnny so I may be a lot biased. I could care less for Keira and Orlando.Geoffrey Rush ruled though.

I think it looks like a fun movie, but Orlando has been irritating me lately with becoming Mr. Joe Hollywood. Friends are trying to get me to see this, but I still don't know. And Kiera seems rather full of herself lately.

^^ Oh HELL yes! After a batch of middling films that weren't even that fun to watch (so far, M:I:III is the best of the blockbuster bunch and that just isn't right!) I am super excited about PotC 2. Just watching Johnny Depp sashay around looking crazed and awesome is enough for me. I have my reservations but the fact that everyone is back for the sequel makes me think that this one will be just as much fun as the first.

The trailers make it look awesome, and I hope they didn't put the best parts there. *crosses fingers*

I must be watching the wrong tv channels, because the only thing for this film I've seen is the Volvo tie-in. Not a trailer at all.

I'm super-psyched, and especially because they've kept the same writing team. One of my favorite things about the original was the nice eighteenth-century flavor of its dialogue (granted, not period-- certainly an "OK" here and there, but well above the usual Hollywood standard), and I was scared they'd bring in some hack for the sequel.

And we've got a review. Not too spoilery - a few things revealed but nothing major. Basically - it appears to have the same faults as the original (a bit long, a few plot things) but it's so much fun that no one cares. And actually - I don't mind the length - the longer the better (I say the more Capt'n Jack the better). Really - they could make a five hour film of the day to day rumblings of Captain Jack Sparrow and I'd be thrilled.

If it's as "flawed" as the first film, I'll take it. I had so much fun at the first film and I am really looking forward to this one! Depp is such a marvel, he could read the phonebook for 2 1/2 hours as Jack Sparrow and entertain me.

Agreed. I was surprised by how much I loved the first one, so if it's anything like it I'll be thrilled.
BTW, does anyone know if Keith Richards is in #3 or not?
