I just saw this today and overall I loved it. I thought they did a good job of covering the main points. Loved seeing assertive Neville for a second. The escape from the ministry was very well done. I was on the edge of my seat for it. I thought the H/Hr dance was a great light moment in the movie. It was clearly done to lighten the mood and didn't see the slightest bit romantic. The audience really seemed to like that part of the movie. Lots of laughter and some clapping during that part. The only part I didn't like: I'm excited for the movie to come out, but I am so sad about Dursley's scene being cut. It actually brought a tear to my eye when I read the book. Damn it! I really wanted to see Dudley and Harry shake hands and for Harry to realize he is better than his parents and for Dudley to finally get how horrid his parent's treatment of Harry was. That was a stupid piece to take out.

I hated that as well. I also think they should've shown some of Kreacher's transformation because then it won't make any sense when he organizes the rest of the house elves during battle. I wanted more of the wedding, more of the chase leaving the Dursleys, and honestly more of the Bellatrix/Hermione torture scene. They should've recast Ginny because she was horrible and so wooden when they had the supposedly hot makeout scene. It was so cringeworthy. I loved that they at least kept the hand holding with Ron and Hermione. By the way, Rupert looked damn hot. My mother even commented that he looks very rugged. As for Dobby's death? Cried like a baby.

Right?!? I don't know when it happened, but the boy is FINE. Especially when he was all exhausted and angry. Rwowr.
I thought the piano-playing scene was incredibly sweet (my daughters pointed out that it was, in a way, a nice call back to the first movie when Hermione corrected Ron's pronunciation of "Leviosa"). The look on Ron's face when he gazed at Hermione ... my goodness, I thought the screen was going to ignite.
Did anyone else giggle during the opening bit of Hermione's reading "The Three Brothers", when she said "twilight" and Ron said "My mum always said 'midnight'. I think 'midnight' is better than 'twilight'." I muttered to myself "ANYTHING in this movie is better than Twilight."

Er, I started crying the moment I saw Hermione in her bedroom looking at her belongings. Which is basically 2 seconds into the movie.

Er, I started crying the moment I saw Hermione in her bedroom looking at her belongings. Which is basically 2 seconds into the movie. I loved the beginning sequence, especially this part. But they ruined it a bit when for some reason they let the trio arrive in Piccadilly Circus/Shaftesbury Avenue (instead of the less famous Tottenham Court Road) and had her tell some anectode about coming there with her parents. I was like "We got it, Hermione erased herself from her parents' memories, it IS sad".

A few things I was thinking about that I really liked:
The seven Potters transformation. That was really funny.
The Weasly Twins - they were hilarious! Especially the part where George was hanging around in the background (with a toothbrush? stuck in his former ear hole) of the Ginny/Harry makeout. Makes me sad for what's coming in the next movie.
I know it was a change from the book but I liked that they had Hedwig set free and come back to save Harry. It also was a nice way around having to explain the whole expelliarmus thing, which even though makes sense in the context of the end battle and adds some depth to Harry's character, is not really necessary to the plot.
All three of the trio did some great work (except DanRad's crying). Emma/Dan somehow managed to only give off friendship sparks and Emma/Rupert were giving off "OMG - I want you!" sparks. And yes, Rupert has definitely gotten hot!
I liked Dobby showing up, having helped Kreacher catch Mungdungus. That was a good way to re-introduce him in a way that made sense in the context of the movies.
Dobby had a great line during the rescue where Harry asked him if he could apparate and Dobby said something to the effect of "duh - I'm a house elf stupid". Also like the shot of Dobby unscrewing the chandelier.
The brief scene at the beginning with Neville being all "he's not here". Gives me hope that they won't muck up his scenes in the 2nd movie. JKR did a great job building that character throughout the series.
Almost forgot:
Loved the scene at the Ministry of Magic - those actors did a fantastic job - especially the one playing Harry.
The animation in the Deathly Hallows story was excellent - loved the way that was done.

Lord, I know. I can't believe that Neville went from the comic relief who was scared of everything to the BAMF that we know and love.
Bwah. That scene had one of my favorite lines from the movie; when one of the twins says something like "Hey, look at it from our side - we might be stuck as a scrawny spec-y git forever."

I loved the seven Potters, the animated Three Brothers, most of the battle scenes, and seeing the beginning of Neville Longbottom, BAMF. I hated the dance scene (so much!), and the fact that they left out Harry taking back Mad-Eye's eyeball (so angry about that! it was important, damn it!), the Dursley goodbyes and Harry's birthday. And I'm sorry, but Rupert Grint looks like a basset hound. Not seeing the hot there whatsoever, and it isn't just because I'm old enough to be his mother. You know who I think is hot? Luna's dad. Rowr.

Er, I started crying the moment I saw Hermione in her bedroom looking at her belongings. Which is basically 2 seconds into the movie. I'm with you there. I seriously cried 3 times in the first half hour or so...and then a few more times throughout the movie. I really, really liked this one. Maybe it's because I just got back and still have a movie high but I think it's the best of them all so far. It didn't feel choppy, it flowed well and moved quickly. Rupert was magnificent. I am so glad they FINALLY decided to give Ron as big a role in the movies as he does in the book. The scene where he left was really amazing, I thought they all did very well there. I was really dreading the dancing scene but it came off great. Some relief from the gloom was needed at that point and the silly dancing delivered. My audience cheered for it - and I don't think Dan/Emma had any kind of sexual tension in that moment. The Three Brothers animation was fantastic. I didn't know they'd animated that part and thought we'd all have to watch Emma read from a book for 5 minutes so it was a surprise to me.
