I thought about the gang rape, but only because in mythology, centaurs are lusty creatures, and are always associated with sex, sexuality, virility, etc. I thought Rowling was winking at that fact with the way all the girls were ga-ga over the centaur who filled in as a teacher at Hogwarts (his name escapes me at the moment - Bane?). I just figured it was another one of those things she puts in the books that the adults will get but will fly right over the kids heads. At the end of the day, I don't know if Rowling intended it to be a gang rape - probably not - but I suspect she knew that people would at least wonder about that.
As far as Tonks goes, I think Keira Knightly would be too pretty. I always pictured Tonks as cute in an off-beat sort of way - like the gal who played Charlotte in "Four Weddings and a Funeral." I know that actress has passed away, but I always pictured Tonks looking a bit like her.

I just figured it was another one of those things she puts in the books that the adults will get but will fly right over the kids heads. At the end of the day, I don't know if Rowling intended it to be a gang rape - probably not - but I suspect she knew that people would at least wonder about that. It's Firenze who went over to help Dumbledore, not Bane. He's the one who hates humans and barely let Harry escape in the the earlier books. I suppose the reason why gang-rape flew over my head is because of the same reasons another poster mentioned earlier in the thread: centuars are supposed to be noble creatures who feel superior to humans, don't want to have anything to do with them and are only concerned with noble, "higher things." Plus, as I said before, I really didn't see much sexual violence in the prior books. Not like gang-rape. I know someone commented that they saw sexual undertones to the GoF Death Eaters' scene but I didn't. Not sexual. Unless one associates the group frenzy of a mob scene with something primordial like sex, in the way that the Nazis' 1936 events were full of passion and frenzied abandonment. I'd been *thinking* of her but didn't know her name. You're completely right, she would have been *perfect,* especially if she had something like her crimson hair in Four Weddings! I was shocked to read that she was dead. I checked on IMDb after reading your post and she died at 33. And from an asthma attack too! It's so sad, and she was so young. BTW, her real name is Charlotte (Coleman) while the character she played on Four Weddings was called Scarlett. Please don't think I'm being snide and correcting, because that's not my intention. I just thought I'd list the name for anyone else who was curious, struggling to put a name to the face and curious to check her out on IMDb. As for Tonks, I don't think Kiera Knightly looks quirky enough for the character. Knightly is too beautiful and elegantly chiselled, imo. I'd thought of Joely Richardson but she's probably too old. (And she doesn't look all that quirky either.) I see Tonks as being around 25 yrs old, slightly awkward and really attractive in a slightly awkward, goofy way. Like those actresses who are attractive even though all their features don't quite fit and who aren't classically "pretty."

I like this idea (I really like Anna Friel) but she is just so pretty - probably too pretty. However, she looks very young and could pull off a sort of awkward performance (I think she is a very good actress - better than she gets credit for being), especially with the different colored hair.
I think that Helen Mirren could be a fantastic Umbridge. So could Prunella Scales, imo. Imelda Staunton is a good choice, too.

New stills here. Including all the champions in their swimsuits! Hee. And, also, in the case of Krum? Hot. Also more Cho, more Moody, more Karkaroff...it's all good.

Moody looks like a bullfrog, I pictured him at being a thin old man. I thought the magic eye was really an eye that could pop out, this looks like a patch.

I'm still amazed that they pretty much won the genetic crapshoot with all three of the main trio. Yeah, Emma's a little too pretty for Hermione but still, pretty good that all three are turning out okay.

I'm sort of stumped over Tonks, too. Most of the young actresses I can think of are too "pretty" and not tough, which I think an auror (sp?) would be.
And this is sort of bitchy, but I don't think the actress they have for Fleur is pretty enough. From the book Fleur is supposed to be this traffic-stopping, could turn a straight girl gay beauty, and she just doesn't seem quite to that level to me.

Kate Winslet for Tonks? She rocked the multi colored hair in "Eternal Sunshine".
I kinda agree about Fleur - I've always imagined her as more etheral and fairy like for some reason. However, I guess one could also argue that she's really not supposed to be super attractive but that it's the Veela part (1/8th I think) of her that makes her seem drop dead gorgeous to the male types.

Hmm, I don't like Moody's eye at all. I pictured it as obviously magical/fake but not strapped on like that. More like a regular glass eye but weird-looking. Doesn't the book (I think in OotP) mention him popping it out of the socket and washing it off because it wasn't rolling right?
