Didn't see a thread for this - I hope I didn't miss it.
Anyhoo - this looks corny, but I actually want to see it. And I just saw on The Daily Show that one of my tv boyfriends - Stephen Colbert - is in it, so now I am obligated to go.
Anyone else slumming into the theater to see this one?

I'm a bit confused on how they're marketing the film. On one hand it seems like they're making a romantic comedy under the guise of a TV license but on the other hand it seems like they're making it a pure comedy vehicle for Farrell. And they seemed to license an '80s pop song to put the whole thing to.
So, I dunno. I don't really hate it. But it doesn't make that 'must see' impression on it like Land of the Dead does.

I think they should have just gone the non-original route and made the movie like the Bewitched show. The whole "they're actors starring in the show 'Bewitched ' and one of the actresses is really a witch" is throwing me off. That's not Bewitched, that's just a movie stealing the title of Bewitched. It frustrates me, because I loved the show and wanted to see a movie version of it. I also agree about the marketing being strange. I guess I'd have to say it looks the most like a romcom, which turns me off.

This is the boat I'm in as well. I was excited when I heard they were making it and the cast sounded okay (still think Reese Witherspoon would've been a better Sam). However, when I saw the previews and realized what they were doing it really turned me off. This will probably end up being a "rent it when everything else is gone" type movie.

Not impressed with the movie clips. Doesn't look like a hit to me.

I don't like the creative approach either. I'm going to see it out of fondness for the sitcom and to see who's playing Mother, Uncle Arthur, Maurice, etc. I still think Jim Carrey should have been Darrin and Will Ferrell may have been a somewhat okay Larry Tate. It's too bad Serena isn't in the movie because I really wanted to see how Nicole would handle that role.

I think that is my main motivation for seeing it as well - and Will Ferrell also mentioned on The Daily Show that Steve Carrell is playing Uncle Arthur.

Isn't Shirley MacLaine playing Endora? That is perfect casting right there. I saw a pic of her in costume and had such high hopes for this movie. Then I saw that trailer. Nicole even looks almost normal too. Such a waste.

I think this is a perfect example of movie making by committee.
Exec 1: "What old TV show can we re-make?" Exec 2: "Let's do a re-make of 'Bewitched'." Exec 3: "Great idea! We'll get Nicole to play Sam!" Exec 4: "Re-makes are kind of common now. Let's make a movie about re-making the TV show!" All: "Brilliant!" Exec 5: "Let's go really crazy and add another twist: The woman playing Sam is actually a witch!" All: "Genius!" Exec 1: "Get Nicole's people on the phone!"

MaryWebGirl, you missed out a question:
Exec 1: "And where can we get more of this excellent stuff we're snorting?"
Edited because it's not my dratted night!
