GOOD NEWS! The film has a PTA of $38,000 for Friday. That means if it makes $100,000 PTA throughout the weekend, Brokeback MOuntain will rank as having the highest PTA of any live-action film ever! I think it's only in limited release right now. You'll probably have to wait until it goes into wide release. It's playing at 5 theatres this weekend (NY, LA, San Francisco).

Whew! Thank goodness. I thought I was going crazy for a second. I'll go see this next week to reward myself for getting through finals ;D.

I went to my local movie theatre this afternoon to see it, and it was sold out for the rest of the day!! Very exciting. So, I bought tickets for tomorrow afternoon, I will have a date with my best friend: brunch and then BM--can't wait, and I will report back tomorrow night!!

Hopefully I'll see this movie tomorrow at 10am in Chelsea. Only playing in 2 theaters in Manhattan, does that suck or what?

I went to see Monster's Ball and people started snickering and whispering during the sex scene between Billy Bob and Halle Berry. That had been in the entertainment press a lot and I totally think the people snickering knew that Halle and Billy Bob were going to have sex when they bought tickets. I think they were there thinking they could handle the scene and then just couldn't or they were there to see what the fuss was about/gape at nekkid Halle. My own father sat through Philadelphia with his sweater pulled over his head (seriously - he would sort of peek over the top every once in a while but he could NOT handle any scenes between Antonio and Tom Hanks - yikes).
A few people might go see the movie without knowing it is a love story but I think a lot of the laughs will be from people who know exactly what they are going to see and end up being uncomfortable and not knowing how to deal.

The film definitely requires a big screen...so many pretty, pretty vistas. Seriously, the landscapes are just breathtaking.
I saw it on Friday and it was sold-out for the entire day, but it's the only theatre it's playing at in Los Angeles. No audience snickers at the guy-guy stuff although there were some at some other scenes, but not in an entirely inappropriate way. The audience burst into applause after one scene of Jake's, actually, which I thought was cool.
And Heath is fantastic. Just fantastic. Jake too. Even Michelle Williams acted her butt off.
My friends hated the film, though. I can see their points because it is kinda slow and very formal, as Ang is wont to be. But the acting is good and the love story is fairly touching.
Easily 20 minutes too long, most of which could have been cut.
