The reviews I've read have actually stated The Doctor is the best thing about the movie.
But I'm one of the few that have no real problem with her soooo....

I kind of want to see the movie, but I've seen the promo a few times, and if I have to sit through the Doctor pantomiming taking that stupid photo again I may kill myself. There's just something about that moment that makes me want to gouge my own eyes out.
But, Orlando... pretty. And, he seems to finally be approaching puberty.
He did an American accent in Black Hawk Down too. He seems pretty good at it. Maybe we can get him to give Ewan a few pointers.

monkey pox, I think you nailed it when you said he looked alive. That is exactly what I thought when I saw the trailers.

From the trailers, Elizabethtown just appears to be a string of cliches about the uptight, ambitious young man living in a narrowly defined world who learns to really open up and "live" through the intervention of a "quirky free spirit" who also happens to be cute. Seriously? Is this film 2005's Garden State? At least it doesn't appear as if Kirsten's character has a wasting disease like Charlize Theron in Sweet November.
As someone else said about the trailers, the whirling-dancing and rain-frolicking are too, too much. Stop.

A clip has been released. I don't know, the acting seems forced or something. The word around the Toronto Film Festival was that the movie is a mess. Crowe is said to be still cutting it but the consensus is that no amount of cutting is going to help the movie. The biggest complaint was that it was too long.

It would be sad if it was a second-rate Garden State... 'cause I thought Zach Braff's terribly ballyhooed movie was partly a rip-off of early Cameron Crowe. Anyway, the buzz is really bad. Think of Brokeback Mountain and all the great buzz it carried from Venice and Toronto. Now think of a film that is on the opposite spectrum of BBM... yes, E-Town is that film. I seriously cringed when I read that Bloom's character pours some of his dad's ashes at the site of Martin Luther King's assassination *shudder*

I'm probably just going to see this to see Orlando Bloom acting like a real person and not some broody warrior or a ponced up figure from 1574 BC/AD. What can I say, I like his smile.
I'll probably go see Domino that weekend, it looks better and I want to pay $10 for a good movie and see Elizabethtown later at the $5 mall theatre. I'd rather see Keira Knightley over the Doctor, despite the Orlando factor.
Garden State was pretty depressing and Elizabethtown seems to be more light-hearted with more family dynamic. And while I loved Garden State, I hope Elizabethtown's better because I hold Cameron Crowe in a much higher regard than Zach Braff.

I just learned that Paula Deen is in this movie. For those of you who don't watch Food Network, she is the woman with the thick Southern accent who cooks everything in 12 tons of butter and who is just this side of annoying as hell. She's playing Aunt Dora, and what do you want to bet that this character cooks up a storm while dispensing down-home country wisdom?

I actually like Paula Deen - I laugh when I watch her, because you're right. Her recipes contain either buttah, so-wah cream or mah-oh-naze........
She's not as annoying as Rachael Ray.
From what I've read about the character of Aunt Dora, she fits it to a tee......
I'm seeing this on Thursday night at the opening night of CIFF.

I really like Cameron Crowe, and I'm especially impressed that he elicited the only good performance Kate Hudson has ever given, but I'd only see this movie if it was for free. I'm pretty neutral on Kiki and although I think Orly is pretty bland I'll always love him for Legolas. But is there anything about this movie that we don't know from watching the previews? I can't get anywhere near excited enough to shell out $10.
