Saw it, loved it.
Really enjoyed the endless dinos, bugs and whatnot; such adventure, and yes, kind of campy, but in an honourable way.
I don't get the general hate for Jack Black here at all (perhaps someone can explain); I've loved him since he was the crazy cat man on Picket Fences. But I thought he was perfectly cast for his role in this. That blend of smarm and charm that he does so well.
Also enjoyd the guy who played the vain movie actor. And of course, Naomi Watts. She did a good job going from terrified to interested to amused to affectionate to sad. Then back to terrified, but for entirely different reasons.

I saw this with my aunt last night and we both loved it. I recently got some really bad news and this movie was just what I needed to get my mind off of it.
I had so much fun watching this! It was action packed, funny and sad all at the same time.

Not an LOTR fan either. I saw the first one on Christmas Day because the family wanted to. After the fourth or fifth close up of Elijah's big big eyes I was ready to hit somebody. Two thirds thru the movie and my sister and I looked at each other and were frickin' ready to leave. Never saw the second and the third. I was absolutely friggin' bored with FOTR but I love the other two. I have now grown to at least like FOTR but it's my least fave. I still have no inclination to see King Kong.

Overall, I think the movie worked. I'd never cared for Kong before in previous versions, but I did pity him and his plight this time.
However, I couldn't get over some of the continuity errors. Jackson's big addition - the scene in Central Park in which they go skating? So it is cold enough that the ice is frozen so solidly that a 25-foot-tall Gorilla can skate in the middle of the pond. But Naomi is wearing a tiny wittle white dress and yet seems not to notice the cold at all. At one point, she is even showered with snow, yet seems to find it charming and not forstbite-inducingly-cold. And of course, as in the rest of the movie, seconds later she is perfectly made-up and her clothing is spotlessly clean again.
At my showing, some wag who had seen the movie before chose to applaud loudly when the screen went dark, as if the movie had just (finally!) ended. Perfect timing. I think this was the same person who inquired loudly, when Jack Black mentioned sailing to an "uncharted island" ... "If it is uncharted, where did you get the frickin' map!"

We laughed later about this, too. Plus she --climbs up the ladder on the Empire State Building? It's gotta be really freakin cold up there! And the metal rungs? I was kinda hoping she'd get her tongue caught on one or something. -- I wondered why they couldn't have just said it was summer, or put a damn coat on the woman. Or does Kong only like her because she's boney and hairless?

I got why she would run out of the theater still in costume and where would she get a coat so to have her coatless didn't bother me that much. But, yeah. Have her rub her arms or something to indicate coldness. I guess adrenaline could count for her not feeling the cold, but it stuck out to me, too (although not enough to interfere with my enjoyment).

Saw it this afternoon.
You know who also saw it? About 20 kindergartners who's parents obviously didn't feel like checking the content of the movie prior to taking the munchkins to see it.
But other then that:
I liked the movie, it was entrancing, well written and acted, way too long (PJ must have some clause in his contracts about the lenght of his films, because ye gods).
The dinosaurs were scary. I mean, I saw all the Jurassic movies, and JP T rexes looked like puppies compared to these monsters.
I wasn't too impressed with the natives, they looked like leftover Orks or something.
That's what I disliked about this movie. Too many odd looking fantasy creatures that missed the final cut for LoTR. I know the idea was to scare the audience, but it was way over the top.
The ending was sad, but that crap about Beauty and the Beast took out the magic.

Yes. Even just crossing her arms. Something. But she had the body language of someone in 75 degree weather.
I was wating outside the bathrooms for my husband and asked a 8-ish year old boy with his dad how he liked it and he said there was a lot of freaky stuff in it So I asked him what he thought was freakyest and it was the inhabitants of Skull Island: "She had a bone through her nose!!". Which is funny because there are two tattoo and piercing parlors within two blocks of the theatre.
I had no problem with the length because of combined circumstances. But last night when we saw Wallace and Gromit at our 3-buck-a-seat bargain theatre, I was tired... and the seats were old and the woman behind me seemed to be TRYing to make the maximum noise possible every time she reached into her bottomless popcorn bag. I thought of how grateful I was that I didn't wait to see Kong there, or I truly would have given it no stars.

Yeah, but that's THE line. When I told my dad I'd seen it, that was the first thing he asked: "Did they say the line? You know, 'twas beauty killed the beast?'" I only wish Jack Black had done a better job of it. To me, he didn't deliver it well. Why didn't Peter Jackson make him try 1000 times until he got it right? Or did he, and this was the best he could do...

Well it is Jack Black so I'm guessing that was probably the best he could do. I think he lacks the necessary gravitas to pull off that line.
