I've just seen the trailer for Tim Burton's Corpse Bride & it looks creepy but adorable, like The Nightmare Before Christmas, Tim Burton's other foray into stop-motion animation. Plotwise, it's the story of an engaged man who winds up married to a ghost.
The voice casting is excellent: Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Emily Watson, Albert Finney, Joanna Lumley, Richard E. Grant, Christopher Lee, Deep Roy, Michael Gough & Danny Elfman as "Bonejangles."
Talk about all things Tim Burton's Corpse Bride related here.

Gah! I am so sick and tired of hearing about JLo. I can't believe they're making a movie about her now.

LOL Except it would have to be tilted the Corpse Bridegroom, seeing as how it's Marc Anthony that is dead and mouldering. I can't wait to see this. I love Tim Burton and all of his gloomy craziness. My mom insists that this movie is the prequel to The Nightmare Befire Xmas, but I think she's nuts. Anyone know the scoop?

It's heartening to know they're still making movies with stop-action instead of CGI (which is really a more sophisticated version of stop-action, or puppetry.) Whatever happened to Will Vinton?

So this is stop-action? From the trailer I was thinking it looked CGI, but in the back of my head knew that Burton liked stop-action.

I am so looking forward to this movie. From the Corpse Bride Website[/color] It is based on a Russian Fairy Tale. The Corpse Bride is a story based on actual events that occurred in 19th century Russia, at a time when anti-semitism was widespread in eastern Europe. Very often bands of anti-semites would waylay a Jewish wedding party on their way to the wedding. And because the bride would be the one to bear future generations, she would be ripped out of the carriage and murdered. She would then be buried in her wedding gown.

I've never heard of this movie until just now, but I'm highly interested. I love all things Burton, and new stop-action stuff is enough to get me to spend the money and actually see it in the theatre.

So is it safe to say that this one will probably lock up the Animated Feature Oscar this year? Is there any competition? There doesn't seem to have been much in the way of animation released this year.

I imagine this will be along the lines of A Nightmare Before Christmas - probably okay for the kids, if a bit on the creepy side. So if your kids scare easily, probably not for them, but probably okay otherwise.
