Ain't no way Ms. Moonface is ever going to look like a guy, no matter how many Monkees wigs she wears. This looks too damn ridiculous.

I have to walk past a poster for this movie on my way in to work, and it makes me want to claw somebody's eyes out. What do I need to do, go in and shake somebody and yell at them that just because it's Shakespeare doesn't mean it's not going to suck? My apologies to any Shakespeare fans out there, but a lot of his comedies are difficult to rewrite into the present simply because the plots are so thin that only witty dialogue and good characters can save them.
And Amanda Bynes makes a terrible boy.

They started promoting the "based on Shakespeare's Twelfth Night" in the ads now. Seriously? Because that's going to draw in soooo many people. As opposed to sending them screaming to these boards to express their horror. What are marketers smoking? Because I seriously want some. "Gosh, hon, I'd never see a shitty Amanda Bynes movie!" "But it's based on Shakespeare!" "Let's get our tickets right away then!" And I think EW made the "Just One of the Guys" connection in a recent issue.

I think they might be trying to tap into the "10 things I hate about you" fanbase. That one is actually pretty well liked, as far as teen movies go.
ETA: for those who don't know "10 things I hate about you" is based on the "Taming of the Shrew."

But that starred, you know, good actors like Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles. Or even if you don't think they're good actors, Amanda Bynes has one-thousandth of their charm and star power.
The projects share a writer, actually.

Based on the review I read, this doesn't sound like Twelfth Night at all.

I saw it tonight and I was really surprised. Based on the previews it looked really dumb, but it was so funny. The whole theater was just cracking up the entire time. Amanda Bynes has amazing comedic timing.

London Aster Do you think the movie is okay for 12-year-olds to see? My kids want to see this, but I remember seeing Just One Of The Guys in the 80s and was worried this movie might be just like that one, i.e., a little too dirty for the kids.

This does sound like Just One of the Guys. I heard there's even a scene where she reveals her gender by pulling open her shirt (I doubt she's turned toward to the camera, unlike the girl in JOOTG).
