I managed to catch the second half of this about an hour ago, and though I LOVE this movie, I've never been able to catch it from the beginning. Questions:
Who is Tommy Tuotone? Is he supposed to be Brian Slade?
What's the deal with Shannon? Why was she crying when Brian and Curt went into the bedroom together? After all, Mandy was Brian's wife.

I love this movie! Yes Tommy is Brian. I think Shannon was crying because she was in love with Brian, and she was a bit naive in the beginning. They show her later as this hard ass industry type managing Tommy, so they stayed together.
Christian Bale and Ewan Mcgregor getting it on on the roof. Awesome. The spaceship I could have done without.

I could have done with a closer camera angle.

I wish you had seen the whole thing because I need someone to explain the spaceship and Oscar Wilde connection. Every time I see the movie I end up scratching the ole noggin because it's just so random. And I try to make sense of it, but then Ewan Mcgregor shows up naked or something and I'm all distracted again. I caught this in high school and it changed my life, my first brush with HoYay!

Oh god, who knows. I have seen this movie at least five times and I still have no idea what the heck is going on. Hell, I can't even tell Mandy and Shannon apart half the time.
But it doesn't matter, because just like with The Big Lebowski, everything else is just so damn awesome.
(But, uh, in totally different ways. I'm not really jonesin' for some Walter/Donny action or anything. And Ewan is way hotter -- and sparklier! -- than Jeff Bridges, awesome though the Dude may be.)

I think the alien/Oscar Wilde connection is that Oscar Wilde was the first "pop idol" sent to us by aliens from Planet Fabulous. That's my take on it, anyway. This movie owns.

In my own mind, right after Arthur chokes on the pin, he follows Curt outside and they go back somewhere and have hot monkey sex again.
Only thing-I HATE glam rock. Not the look, but the music mostly sucks in my opinion. Oh well.

I like this movie a lot, but Christian Bale looks terrible in that glam mullet wig and the make-up.

Amazon has it for like, seven dollars. And it is worth owning, believe me. I'm suprised it wasn't more successful. I remember at the time the movie spawned a make up line, so I thought it was going to be a big thing. But alas, no.
