I'm only surprised in so far as I presumed that a veteran party boy like Colin would know that cocaine doesn't mix so well with other drugs, especially depressants.

Perez must be dropping IQ points like flies from hanging around La Skank Hilton. You can't overdose from marijuana.

I have to say that I always figured a huge amount of his party reputation was a PR ploy. Like he was sleazy but he didn't go around messing up film shoots with his out of control behavior and overdosing. Maybe he bought into his own hype or maybe he was always crazy (probably a little bit of both - plus, it can't be nice being the next big thing that wasn't) but I do think he has talent and charisma.
Miami Vice has real potential. I hope he doesn't burn all of his bridges because it might be a reminder of what he is capable of as well as a reminder why he became so popular so fast a few years ago.

Even with his partying he still had a reputation for being really professional. At least until he made Alexander. But I'm willing to give him a pass on that because I can understand anyone being driven to drink by Stone. Miami Vice seems to be where he went off the rails.
I feel bad for the guy though. His grandmother died a couple of days ago and now this.

I'm worried if there's another drug involved that ER docs couldn't readily identify (like Valium, amphetamines, etc.)? Damn, Colin... I think we're going to start hearing leaks that the Vice pandemonium leads back to this... maybe part of it was Farrell and Foxx partying, then Foxx started getting down to business and CF couldn't get it under control. There seemed to be a delay/shooting/mishap every other week on that set.

Yeah, that is worrying. To me that sounds like he scored some prescription pills illegally that he thought were one thing (valium, oxycontin, vicoden?) that then turned out to be something else entirely. Who knows what cocktail of drugs he managed to ingest?
I think Miami Vice is going to suck big time. I hate re-makes as it is, but the combination of Jamie Foxx, Colin, and all these shooting and set problems? Big fat waste of time and money.

Eh. This one has been visible on the horizon for awhile but I do hope he gets his shit together. He's a womanizer and a party animal but I don't think he's a bad guy. As for mixing coke and weed - why? Wouldn't that just equal nothing?

Just read another spin on this story. I guess now he's being treated for addiction.

Not really. A few years ago, he noted that his pre-fame diet was: That's a weekly intake of over 10.5 grams of drugs and that's not even factoring in the booze. Given that, I have no idea how the boy could overdose, with such a high level of tolerance. I'm still hella-curious as to find out what the last drug is. I could see smoking dope to come down from the coke high -- as people have speculated, he may have also taken some prescription thing (like valium or xanax to come down/crash) that he ended up being something else. I assume they would have detected ecstasy or speed fairly easily. Hmmm....the man is young, but what if it were Viagra or Cialis or a generic equivalent? That would make for a pretty deadly combo with coke. From what I can tell from that previous admission of drug use, it seems like he saw a therapist, but I'm not sure if he formally entered into rehab at the time. Hope he manages to pull through. He's a sleazeball horndog, but he's an honest one and seems like a truly nice guy otherwise.

I guess I always thought he was just saying those types of things about drugs, pills and booze(as opposed to doing them). He seemed to know that his boozing and womanizing got him press (remember him showing up to the premiere of The Recruit with Britney Spears? Even his co-stars called him out on that headline grabbing bullshit). Obviously he does have a problem so he wasn't necessarily faking his addictions/vices to get column inches, but it alwatys came across as so calculated rather than an honest account of his life.
In any case, I hope he gets the help he needs.
