I am so exited about this movie. A musical set in the prohibition era starring Big Boi, Andre 3000, Macy Gray, Patti Labelle and.... wait for it.... Ben Vereen!!! I know everyone is falling all over themselves over Dreamgirls but I think this will be the better film. Outkast brings creativity and seems to raise the bar in everything they do. Beyonce...not so much. (plus staring into those dead eyes for 90 miniutes....

The previews for this look awesome!! I will probably have to see it by myself, though, because I don't know anybody else who's even heard of it

I couldn't figure out what this movie was about because Idlewild was the former name of JFK Airport (NY). But a '30s musical sounds pretty interesting...

Like Mutagen, I'll probably end up seeing it alone. I've got a strange fascination for that time and venue, god knows why. Nothing in my non-ethnicity or middle-class life points me in that direction. The trailers are great. I just hope they're not advertising the best parts so that by the time you see it, you've... well... seen it already. But there are some pretty good-looking people in that movie!

Oh! This makes so much more sense now. Based on the previews they are airing here in MN, I thought it was some sort of weird parallel-universe Western/saloon flick... which was worrisome because it was making me think it was some sort of shitty trainwreck like Wild Wild West or something.
Man, I'm sloooow.

I'm so excited for this movie too. It seems, from the previews, to be so well done and engaging. Every time I see the previews, I want to dance and jump out of my chair. And I am Whitey Whiterton. lol

I want to see this too. I was surprised to see it advertised though--I could've sworn it was going to be shown on HBO. I had no idea it was scheduled for wide release. But I'll totally give them some opening-weekend cash. Anything for Terrence Howard and his smart-dressing butt.

When is the soundtrack going to be released? I love OutKast and I'm looking forward to the movie. Though I noticed a lot of magazine's summer movie issues aren't really discussing this movie. I wonder why...

I really want to see this movie. I'm hoping it will fill the Moulin Rouge void of outrageous original movie musicals.

I think the sound track is going to be released on the 22nd. Myspace had a free preview. It's pretty good. Quite a few songs incoroporate 1920's jazz. (one track they rhymed over cab calloway's minnie the moocher) My theory on the crappy publicity is hollywood doesn't want to overshadow the potential goldmine that is Dreamgirls.
