Hadn't seen the movie in a while and just downloaded the script - it reminded me what a great movie this is. Tina Fey did an excellent job. So smart and funny.

Oh where did you download the script from? Was it the movie one or the orginal one?

You can get it (and tons of other scripts) at this site. If you right click on the script, you an print it out so you don't have to read the whole thing online. It's not the shooting script, if that's what you're asking, but it's the same as the movie (as far as I can remember), so it must be one of the very last drafts, if not the final draft.

Thanks. I was wondering if it was one of the first drafts that Tina Fey pitched to the movie execs, back when the film was more along the lines of Heathers, with swearing and stuff. I used to have a copy but lost it.

This movie ranks right behind Clueless as the movie I quote the most.
Some of my favs:
"It's probably because I have a big old LESBIAN Crush on you. Suck on that - ayyiyiyiyiy!"
"boo, you whore!"
"But you love Ladysmith Black Mambazo!"
"We should totally STAB CEASAR!"
And the quote that (sadly) is most fitting to my life: "the only guy who ever calls my house is Randy from Chase Visa"
My favorite favorite quote for a while was: "I don't think my father, the inventor of Toaster Strudel, would be too pleased to hear about this." - Lacey was awesome in this role.
But it's recently been replaced by:
"You go Glen Coco!" I am known for shouting that out randomly.
Just so my post isn't totally worthless, I had a discussion with some friends about how much a celebrity is responsible for the attention and paparazzi they have. While LL was a bit more famous, this movie launched both her and Rachel McAdams. But LL is followed everywhere - but she also goes to the Ivy and Le Deux (or whatever club is hot in LA), but RMcA goes back to Canada and doesn't go to a restaurant/club/store that are pap hangouts - and she dated a fellow celebrity!! This example will always make me thing that celebs "poor me" is total crap, and they have a lot to do with how famous/followed around they get.

I love the fact that years after this movie's release its thread lives on. You go Glen Coco!

The wonderful film studies site The Film Experience has many links to many blogs discussing Mean Girls in their series Hit Me With Your Best Shot, if you want to further explore some viewpoints. And, with The Breakfast Club in 1984, Clueless in 1995, and Mean Girls in 2004, we are about due for a cultural phenomenon portrait of high school. Hollywood, get on it!
