The Perks of Being a Wallflower was a pretty good representation for some folks but doesn't have the scope in regard to the various social groups that those other films do.

I don't know why, but "Danny DeVito! I love your work! " kills me every time.

"So if you're from Africa, then why are you white?" Oh my God! You can't just ask people why they're white!

And, with The Breakfast Club in 1984, Clueless in 1995, and Mean Girls in 2004, we are about due for a cultural phenomenon portrait of high school. Hollywood, get on it! Interesting. WRT The Perks of Being a Wallflower, that it was set in the past (the 90s), I don't know if it could have the same cultural relevance. I view that movie like Dazed & Confused or Donnie Darko or The Outsiders. I think the most recent movie that could be considered in the above class may be "Easy A", although I don't think I would quite put it up there. I think it will be tougher to find that next hit, just because we already experienced three movies (or movie franchises) being embraced by the teen cohort--Harry Potter, Twilight and The Hunger Games. And it seems like the Disney Channel is churning out teen movies, with High School Musical having been its biggest pop culture milestone.

For some reason the principal going "I will keep you here all night!" "We can only keep them until four." "I will keep you here until four!" always gets me. Plus Gretchen's whole stab Caesar speech is a masterpiece. ("Brutus is just as cute as Caesar!")
