Whenever I see pics from this time in her life, with Cruise, I am struck by her resemblance to Kelly Preston.

She just recently had LASIK surgery. It's in the current issue of Marie Claire. She says it took a lot of courage for her to go through with it after years of wandering around with poor eyesight. Now if has been scared of that, I doubt she would readily go under the knife. IF she's not too bothered about her gray hair, it strange that she would be overly concerned with wrinkles. In the article she says the main reason she stays out of the sun is because of her fear of skin cancer, not so much from wrinkles.
I agree about the lipstick though. Awful!

I bet she is. At least every other week. If you enlarge one of those closeups from the AMC's you can really tell that her hair is basicaly two different colors. I don't think she is a blond by choice these days. It's the only color that allows her to hide the gray to some extent.

The contacts or the LASIK would explain the recent red eyes -- I was pretty lucky and didn't experience it, but some people who have LASIK end up with permanent "dry eye," and even if you don't have it permanently, the first few weeks after the surgery your home, car, and workplace are littered with those little single-use vials of saline solution.
I agree with Georgianna and Abigail -- the blond is the only way she can hide the gray. (That's not to say that it doesn't look awful -- she reminds me of my older cousin's first-edition Barbie, which had this awful not-quite-blond, not-quite-red hair.

She may just have sensitive eyes - for some reason I popped Moulin Rouge! in the other day and I noticed in a lot of her scenes her eyes are kinda red. Mine never used to be, but for the past year or so every time I put my contacts in my eyes get red, despite having worn contacts for over 15 years. I've thought about LASIK, but I'm a big baby and it scares the crap out of me.
I can buy that Nicole hasn't had any major surgery - she even has a weird dent on the underside of her nose that she's had all her life. You'd think if she liked surgery she would get rid of it. I don't, however, believe that she's "100% natural." I think she's had plenty of stuff done at the dermatologist's office, (peels, botox, etc.) just not the surgeon's office.

Sorta OT: As someone who went through LASIK, I can attest to the chronic dry eyes. If Nicole is fighting with that side effect, she has my sympathy. It's not fun and it made me seriously regret having it done. If any of you are thinking about having the procedure, think long and hard about it. Please.

I was actually just about to schedule an appointment to see about getting LASIK. I have astigmatism and thought for years I would not be able to get LASIK and just found out I was eligible and got so excited. Damn. I guess I have to rethink this.

OT to K. Barrett, giving LASIK more thought is a good idea but you should also know that many, many people have LASIK without any negative results. I work for an optometrist and of those patients I've talked to who have had the procedure, not one of them had the problems with dryness that I did (this is a small sampling, maybe 15-20 people over the course of a few years). I also had astigmatism and my vision before the procedure was about 20/400 (roughly -3.75 in both eyes). I just had my yearly exam yesterday and I'm seeing at about 20/25 with some astigmatism remaining. It certainly would be a good idea to have your appointment, at least to discuss your options and the possible side effects. I don't mean to dissuade you entirely but please know that chronic dry eye is a possibility and it's not an "oh, my eyes feel a bit dry" sort of thing. It's a "I plan all my activities around my eyes and make damned sure I'm NEVER without my eye drops" thing. The first year was absolutely horrible and many times, I'd end up just going to bed because it simply hurt too much to have my eyes open any longer. I am happy to say that now, three years later, it's not nearly the issue that it was in the beginning. If you want to know more, please feel free to PM me. I'll be happy to tell you how the procedure actually feels and what recovery is like. My apologies for the hijack. Back to your regularly scheduled Nicole Kidman program.

I had LASIK last year. Had the dry eye problem for awhile but now it's much better. I don't regret it at all!
I don't think Nicole is botoxed. I think it's a brow lift that went wrong. I also think she may have had cheekbone implants and that's why she's got the scrunchy eyes. She's definitely had laser or peels to get rid of the freckles.
In interviews she comes off to me as pretty neurotic. She's alluded to some serious mommy issues and the whole "I get married and engaged - that's my thing"? Whatever. Which surprises me since I heard she was incredibly ambitious and focused.

I think the worst career move that Tom made was divorcing Nic...obviously.
