She looks very pretty in those pics with her husband, but at the same time there seems to be something lacking. I can't quite put my finger on it. All of the elements of being beautiful are there, but there's also something somewhat weird about her beauty.

She seemed to have more character and personality in her face when she was younger.

I just saw the link to the picture of her in Dead Calm and I didn't like how she looked there. She looks like a completely different person there. I do wonder if she's had surgery because it seemed like she didn't have lips before. I think her gums used to show too.

I think that it's the lack of animation that detracts from her looks. It's the same way in which a Barbie doll looks good, but isn't really attractive.

The Fug girls didn't like that dress she wore in those past pictures, but I think it's awesome. Maybe cooler for some kind of fancy beach party, but whatever. I'd wear it!

Maybe that's what she wanted , to get her name back in the press . Who was it that said " all publicity is good publicity ".

I don't think she's had anything done. She looks exactly the same as she did when she was 19 in the Dead Calm picture , except that she still was growing into her face and had baby fat. She is lean and mean now which shows in her chiseled face. She is also 21 years older - facial bone structure grows and sharpens, skin below the brow (eyelids) slacken and become a little hooded. She doesn't look like she altered her face to me in any mechanical/surgical way . It looks like normal aging to me.

She has obviously been careful to stay out of the sun and not over induldged in drugs /drinking / smoking / rearing kids / stress / working too hard or any of the drudgeries of life that can take a toll .

I don't know. From what I've seen it looks like she got her skin bleached, botox, eye lift and collagen for her lips. I may be wrong. I'm definitely no expert, but there's no way she's all natural.

We just watched Malice today, made in 1993, and she was beautiful. I can't put my finger on exactly why she looks so different; it's more than just a decade older, losing weight, and hair going gray.

Same here.

And if you notice the pictures of her and Kieth vs her pics with Tom, it's a whole different vibe.

They seem disconnected, while her pics with Tom she would lean into him, have her hands on him, etc.

I don't think Tom can find another actress who can better play the role of his wife than Nicole. Maybe it's because I find TomKat relationship to be really weird or maybe because Nicole is a better actress than Katie, but I did actually buy that she adored Tom or that she was happy with him.

In the Marie Claire interview, she would only say that Isabella and Connor are being raised as scientologists. I suppose Nicole doesn't have much say in that.

Excerpts from her USA Today interview:

On not being relevant while married to Tom Cruise: “Tom and I, we moved and moved and moved. Your sense of where do I come from becomes less and less relevant. A lot of my life, particularly when I was working so much, it was about trying to fill in the gaps. Now there’s much more reason to exist in the world without my identity needing to be through work.”

On what’s next: “I’m going to Germany to do a film called The Reader for six weeks. Naomi Watts, my girlfriend, is going to be shooting in Berlin. She just had a little baby. She’s doing a film with Clive Owen there. I don’t know Germany at all. I’ve been to the Berlin film festival, and that’s it.”

On globe-trotting and if it ever gets to her: “I get sick of being away from my family. The actual traveling, I enjoy. I manage a pretty good life in terms of ducking and weaving and having protection. I’m not someone who seeks out paparazzi photos. I prefer to be left alone. Most of the time, I work out ways to navigate the cities, but I get recognized pretty much all about the world, which is a weird feeling sometimes. Not in a bad way. People, in general, are just lovely. They just say, hey, they do a double-take, that’s the general thing.”

On her Margot character: Ask Kidman, 40, if she's anything like the mercurial and mean Margot, and she snorts with laughter. "I would hope not. For me, it was actually quite difficult. She's an intellectual New Yorker. I didn't have a reference for her," she says. "I don't have a temper. I didn't grow up in a family where that was prevalent, that sort of loudness. My feelings get hurt. I probably tend more to crying and being hurt. The grief is easier than the anger."

On how she maintains her flawless skin: “I wore a lot of sunscreen. I never go in the sun. I’ve had one skin cancer on my leg, and I rarely get in the sun, so that just shows you. They cut it out. Stay out of the sun, because it is the worst thing in terms of aging. I’m very medical. I come from a medical family.” (Her father is a clinical psychologist, and her mother is a nurse educator.)

Nicole on how her nearsightedness helped her deal with the paparazzi: “I never wore glasses except when I had to read a teleprompter at an awards show or drive, so I didn’t notice much. I could exist in my head. It was kind of my escape from the world and my protection.”

Nicole on how LASIK surgery changed all that: “I was walking around legally blind. Now I have 20-20 vision. I can’t believe I spent so many years blurry, but I think that coincides with how I was feeling. Now I notice if people are watching me, but I also smile right back if someone waves, which helps.”

Nicole on her first year of marriage: “They say the first year of marriage is the hardest. Please, God — he’s the most important person in my life, and he says I am for him, and that’s where we’re at. We won’t go more than 12 days apart, ever. The time he went away to rehab was the longest time.”

Nicole on being 40 years old: “Yipee! I can’t believe I made it. It feels like a long haul to get here. I’m so fine with it. People want you to have some sort of breakdown, but I’m relieved to be 40 years old, and I’ve lived a life.”

Nicole on her kids, Isabella and Conner: “Yes, they’re being raised as Scientologists. I don’t want to go there.”
