Just saw a side view shot of Michelle (and Busy, OF COURSE) and the dress was a good choice, because she does look a bit thick thru the middle. No shade, just saying that I think if she hadn't announced the pregnancy there would be "is Michelle pregnant?" pieces today, rather than focus on her speech.

A little bird telling her "the heart wants what it wants, go ahead and blow up two marriages"

I think she announced because her boobs appear enormous in that dress.

I know it was 14 years ago, but Michelle looked amazing when she was pregnant with Matilda. She did not wear voluminous Grecian sheets. She wore little empire waist dresses that emphasized her boobs. *Inserts photo of Busy clapping and crying because MW could run a busload of nuns and orphans off the road and Busy would clap and cry* To be fair to Busy, she talked about having an abortion when she was 15, so I think she could personally relate to the message that her life would be different if she didn't have choice.

I think that her speech was a nod to Busy and her own choices with having an abortion at 15. A ton of stupid conservatives online have been going crazy saying that Michelle supports abortion and that her speech was all about death to children/babies -- Pfftt, the chick said NOTHING about abortions. She talked exclusively about a woman's right to choose. Full stop. To take and run with it to turn her very well said speech as a way to promote their own hate just pisses me off. But Busy was over the top in her wiping of mascara.

Maybe I'm misinterpreting because she didn't say it explicitly, but my read of her speech was that she heavily implied that she had an abortion at some point and she attributed her ability to have the career she has because she was able to make that choice. I think it was a brave and effective speech, particularly as she's currently pregnant.

Some people are giving her flack for not having this conversation in 2016--and I get it, but we need people to keep speaking out now too.
