I heard this morning that she was only getting $20,000 a year as the ex. But Andrew was taking care of her, obviously ... what did she spend so much money on?

I still think Andrew is dirty in this whole thing. There's got to be more to come.

Although I think what the tabloid reporter did to her sounds rather shady, I don't understand how she keeps getting duped by the tabloids. Did the weird toe-sucking scandal teach her nothing?

Some people must have the most incredibly thick skin. They really know how to deal with embarrassment and go on.

Maybe she figures that all those earlier scandals didn't kill her and with the risk she was taking on this one, if it worked, she could have made money from the deal.

Of course, she broke one of those cardinal rules of the social circle: don't trust anyone outside the circle. I think that may be one of her fatal flaws. Another thing is, she truly must be desperate. I wonder how much of her daughters' trust funds have been drained? In five years, are we going to see them selling access to Prince William? I can't imagine Prince Andrew is completely innocent in all this, considering how close they are.

I read that this was the same reporter who tricked Prince Edwards's wife into saying something about Tony Blair's wife.

After reading that, I don't understand how Fergie got tricked.

Wow, I'm shocked. I haven't followed Fergie in ages but I remember generally liking her when she was married to Andrew even though she could be a bit coarse.

I had no idea she was this much of a trainwreck.

It astounds me that she can be broke. She lives rent free on the Windsor estate. She had HUGE endorsements from Weight Watchers and the sales from her books weren't too shabby. Most of her international travel was paid for either by the companies she worked for or by her jetset friends who liked having a "royal" in their circle. Ditto most of her entertaining. All of her daughters expenses are covered by The Firm. So what's left to spend money on? Clothes maybe? I'm sure designers were sending her freebies by the rack load. Booze and ciggies maybe? It's just so pathetic.

One of the articles mentioned she invested in her own lifestyle company which went belly up. Still, I think she's just one of those spendaholics who buys ridiculous stuff on, like, ebay, that is too stupid to even be resold. Like Joey Tribbiani spending all his money at "I Love Lucite" and "Isn't it Chromantic".

Her behavior is appalling. I remember watching her wedding when I was 8 yrs old and thinking she was so pretty and fun.

Did she and Diana remain friends after their respective divorces?

Di and Fergie's relationship had some ups and downs over the years, including the periods during and after their divorces. IIRC, Diana died only a year after her own divorce was finalized. At the time of Diana's death, she had stopped speaking to Fergie because Fergie had (stupidly) written in her autobiography that Diana had given Fergie plantar's warts by lending her a pair of shoes.

Diana had done some pretty shitty things over the years to Fergie, so I'm surprised Fergie herself was even speaking to Diana at all. Once when Diana wanted to deflect some heat and bad press she was getting, she tipped off the paps that Fergie was off with one of her then-lovers, and the paps honed right in and got some un-Duchessly photos of Fergie. Unforgivable.
