Well, well - look who's back (warning - that link contains what could be considered a spoiler). Just the news I have been waiting for! Thankyouthankyouthankyou--now I'm SUPER excited for this movie! Wow! She looks amazing. Can't wait to see Indy and Marion together again.

OK. So I've just heard that Karen Allen is back for Indiana Jones 4.
YIPEEEE!
The first and BEST of the women, head and shoulders above the whining Kate Capshaw (yes, I know she's Mrs. Spielberg) and the boring woman in #3.
I give Spielberg a lot of credit here because I heard that he and Karen Allen did not get along in "Raiders of the Lost Ark". So, good for him.
And most importantly, good for us. I mean, really, can you see Indy with anyone else?
This is great news!
Indiana Jones... I always knew you'd walk back through my door.

OT, I think proper stranger and katyzz should always post back to back.
Having those Christian Bale pictures one after the other was... yeah... is it hot in here or is it just me?

Harrison Ford is the same age as my father. My father just signed up for Medicare.
If they were going to make a 4th, they should have done it 10 years ago, IMO. I'll still watch it, but I'll have a really hard time getting into it as believable if they still have the types of action scenes they did in the past.

I am getting incredibly psyched about this movie. Everything I've heard/seen about it so far sounds awesome--Cate Blanchett as a villain, Shia as the young whippersnapper, and the return of Marion! I think Harrison Ford looks just perfect in the fedora and khakis (apparently they didn't even have to let them out for him). I mean, yes, he's getting on in years, but he's always been in incredible shape and done his own stunts. Plus, as other posters have noted, the movies have always portrayed Indy not as a superhero but as a real guy with aches and pains and bruises; hence the great scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark when Marion is tending Indy's bruises and he says, "It's not the years, honey, it's the mileage."
I'm expecting lots of references to Indy's age in the new movie (particularly since George Lucas and Steven Spielberg aren't so young themselves), along with inventive ways for the elderly to kill bad guys (the gun worked well on the guy with the sword in the first movie).

The did a good job of it in the third one too - "Well don't you see? The pen is mightier than the sword. ". That and who can forget Jones Sr bringing down a plane with an umbrella and a flock of poor seagulls.

That and who can forget Jones Sr bringing down a plane with an umbrella and a flock of poor seagulls. Very true, jynni. I love Sean Connery in the third movie. The banter between him and Harrison Ford is priceless. ("I like Indiana!" "We named the dog Indiana.") For some reason we watched The Last Crusade constantly in my family when I was little. I didn't see the first two movies until I was in high school. It's too bad that Connery didn't want to come out of retirement for the new movie, but he remains a good example that older men can be badass. I'm sad that Denholm Elliott (Marcus) passed away and won't be a part of the new movie. Marcus was so great--he got lost in his own museum! I had no idea that he died of AIDS. How sad.

Isn't there an urban legend that the reason behind the whole "Indy shoots the guy with the fancy swordlay" was because Harrison Ford had a case of the trots and couldn't handle a big action scene that day?
And yes, I do hope there is some reference to Indy's age and how he's too old for this crap, etc. As long as it doesn't get overplayed into some sort of Seniors Power thing.

From what I remember, it actually happened. They had a huge fight scene rehearsed and choreographed. The day of the shoot, Ford had food poisoning and they were behind schedule or something so he just said "how 'bout I just shoot the guy". I think Spielberg talked about it in an Indy "making of" documentary. Might have been on the bonus disc with the box set.
