Aargh. I can't convince my friends that showing up 10 minutes before the show will guarantee seating! Am I the only one who understands the concept of 'opening weekend'? Frustrating.

Hmmm, after reading the spoilers about the ending, I really don't know if I want to spend 10 dollars to see this movie in the cinema.

Hmm... I just saw it. I thought it was thrilling, over the top and helplessly corny all wrapped together. (Also, above hysteria re: tickets was totally unfounded.)
One question: What gives with the groundhogs? Also, was the monkey vine swinging scene supposed to be hilarious? Because my theater cracked up.

I thought those were prairie dogs, not groundhogs. The latter are a lot bigger and rounder (you can tell I spent 15 years in PA).
Anyway, it was tons of fun. but seemed to have lots of slow points, where folks were just sitting and talking. More than just exposition, it seemed to really take the whole idea of "Look! It's the FIFTIES!" and come perilously close to beating you over the head with the premise. Still, the sight of Indy rushing about in a Levittown-esque suburb was jarring, he stuck out big time.
Did anyone else get the Marlon Brando reference in Mutt's first appearance? Hee! I also liked the nice tip of the hat to Brody and the late Denholm Elliot. I did wish Marion had more to do; she did have great skills in tearing through the jungle and saving the guy's asses at one point, but she was my favorite of the Indy women.

Ok...so what was up with the prairie dogs? Some inside joke I missed? Or just Spielberg hijinks? Just curious.
Loved the Yale shots...trying to identify colleges, streets in New Haven, etc. The Mutt opener was great as well. Marion did seem kind of wedged in at times, but I thought she did ok. Plus, I was impressed with all the effects.

I was so excited at the beginning was when Neil Flynn popped up, I was like "It's Janitor!" And it's the second Ford movie he's appeared in.

Glad I wasn't the only one who spotted Neil Flynn! I was amazed at how they were able to get him in the shot in such a tiny room; did you notice that he was so tall that his head was *above* the ceiling lamp?
As much as I love all the Indy movies, I admit that I was bitterly disappointed when NONE of my art history classes in undergrad and grad school delved into the subject of all the secret passages and booby traps in all of those ancient tombs and palaces. Fake tombs in the Khufu pyramid, yes, but other than that? Zilch!
ETA: Am I the only person here who saw this movie and thought "Wow, Spielberg must have watched a lot of 'In Search Of..." back in the day...."

It must've taken a great amount of restraint for them not to play it for laughs, which was good because it was a serious scene. He did look weird in the suit and horn rim glasses. I'd love to see the outtakes of that scene.

I saw it tonight, and agree with the majority, it was very good but not mind-blowing. Every action scene was great, and it felt just like the other movies. Man, I could not love Harrison Ford more.
