But she didn't "get caught" (and I don't see how she ever would have). It was something she came out with on her own after she had her second kid. She was like, "it was stupid to feel that way".

Maybe I have her mixed up with someone else, but I thought she was outed in a blind item. Even so, I think it's an odd thing to lie about.

I know it's not her fault all her movies will be out at once...it would be unfortunate if she ended up overexposed, though. She's at such a good, non-annoying level of fame as it is.

Nose job at goodplasticsurgery.com...I don't know. It looks like one of those things that could just be makeup/lighting to me. And I stongly doubt we'll ever get confirmation, as it goes so much against her image.

I would be willing to accept that it's possible she could be a real Bee Eye Tea See Atche. I'd still like her for her acting, though, and her sense of style. The most negative thing we heard-where she was snotty to someone on the set of Little Children could have been explained by the fact that the girls were all giggly and starring at her, and saying, "Hi Kate!" in unison, and it was during a swimsuit scene, and she tends to be VERY self-conscious. I think she is happy with herself and has some self-esteem issues at the same time-it's very possible.

I think she might have had a little something done to her nose because she does look different these days and the nose seems more streamlined (the pictures on goodplasticsurgery.com aren't that convincing, though). However, like Ginger said, she has lost quite a bit of weight and aged since her early days and it is possible that that could have changed her appearance slightly. Whatever she did or did not have done, I think she is stunning.

I don't think she is a sell-out or anything for losing weight and maintaining a low weight. It is part of her job as an actress. I like that she talks about how difficult it is to keep the weight off and how crazy she was with the fad diets and stuff. It is those actresses who pretend that they are cadaver thin and eat whatever they want that drive me nuts!

I will always think James Cameron is an asshole because of the "Kate Weighs-a-lot" nickname. She was, what, 20 when that film was made and dickweed thought that was a funny and appropriate nickname? Argh! He said a lot of complimentary things about her and he did take a chance by casting her in the first place, but that just pisses me off.

I don't think I've ever seen a celeb not being mentioned in these sites for having some job done at some point in their career, so I'll take everything they say with a grain of salt.

Topic? I never thought she was that great looking and though I disliked Titanic immensely and thought Kate was a poor choice for the lead part (she did look like 10 years older than Leo), I've come to appreciate her talent throughout the years. I saw that episode of Extras, it was the first aired in US and became a fan of the show instantly. Thought she was pretty funny and I liked how she took a jab at the Academy for rewarding actresses mainly for playing crippled/insane/ugly women and that's what she had to do to get a damn Oscar.


She's very pretty but nothing sizzling imo.I don't get any sensual vibe from her.

I think it looks like she's had her nose done. I looked up other Kate pics on the web and I think she has. It's a nice job, but totally unnecessary, IMO. Kind of disappointing.

And that girl later said that Kate paid her a personal visit a few days later.

I think her nose job is equivalent to Natalie Portman's nose job: totally unnecessary and doesn't change her looks all that much (unlike, say, Jennifer Aniston or Scarlett Johansson).

But I still like Kate nose job and all. It was definitely disappointing (I was skeptical at first, but then I realized that really subtle change when I saw a behind-the-scenes documentary on the Titanic DVD), but I think Kate is as "real" as you can get in Hollywood.... which is sad.

And I would still love to meet her... preferably outside of a movie set. I have a feeling she'll be a hoot to hang out around when she doesn't have all that self-conscious baggage in full-degree mode (and to her credit, her self-consciousness isn't as annoying as Nat Portman's intellectual "I can apply psychology to my movie roles!" self-consciousness).

Kate refuted that James Cameron comment in a Jane interivew (circa ESoTSM, I think). James Cameron has a well-known rep for being an asshole on sets, but I'll take Kate's word for it.

Anyway, I think a great part of why she got so hyper-insecure about herself is that whole weight issue. I'm not a shrink or anything, but damn, that whole weight thing has been haunting her for like, ten years now. She developed an eating disorder during S&S shooting, and the "she's so fat" comments let on post-Titanic hulabaloo. I came across a I Don't Like You That Way piece on Kate's pics on R&C, and whatta you know, the site mod, Todd, brought up her weight again.

There's that whole cliche about actress being self-conscious because it's all part of the job (i.e. people sizing you up on your looks for roles, etc.). Not to completely absolve her from this or anything, but I think Kate sorta got even more self-conscious with that fixation on her weight.

OT: Natalie Portman had a nose job? Pics, links, please!

Topic: funny about Kate having an eating disorder on Sense and Sensibility. In her journals from that film Emma Thompson talks about the little girl who plays the youngest sister, Emilie Francois, wanting to lose weight and being appalled that she was only twelve and always trying to make her eat cookies and cake. And she recounts a dinner conversation with Kate that is hilarious about them trying hard not to eat too much. I wonder if she was aware of what was going on with Kate. She does mention how stressful that S & S must have been for Kate being only nineteen and taking on such a big role.

Plus, I believe Kate said her classmates used to call her "blubber" when she was a child. Ouch.
