Well, that's probable too. I just remember reading a blurb somewhere and it made me think that might be the case.
It's good that they're all getting along, for Mia's sake, at least. It also seems like Sam considers Mia his daughter too, and that's really great.

Yes, please do! On another note, I was catching up on my UK tabloid gossip and inbetween the pieces about a full-frontal Bond, Sizemore praising Paris in bed, and more, I came across an article in which Kate Winslet talks about preparing her breast milk for her son while on the set. It's from today so I thought it was good timing to share:

I get this vibe off her as well. I find her whole "I'm normal! Really!" thing tiresome. Agent Provocateur gear, in front of a camera, 8 weeks post-birth? Tell us another one, Kate.
I hope sharpteeth has a dishier story than me, but I have met Sam Mendes a few times (I don't know him in any way. I just know someone in his general London theatre/film crowd) and never found him to be anything other than supremely smug and up himself. I thought he was a hack before that, but it was solidified by his lofty "I'm a serious arteest, take me very seriously, peons" airs.

She has five movies coming out this year (if you count Romance and Cigarettes, which although technically released last year still hasn't seen the light of day--it's just coming out in the UK now and is apparently supposed to get more of a showing in the States sometime too). I hope she doesn't turn into Nicole Kidman by January, and have us all begging her to JUST GO AWAY for a while.

I hope she doesn't turn into Nicole Kidman by January, and have us all begging her to JUST GO AWAY for a while. I don't think R&C will be released this year in the States. Flushed Away is just animation. And so I guess that leaves three films (Little Children, All the King's Men, and The Holiday). Anyhoo, I don't get that calculating vibe from Kate. But I do get the hyper self-conscious vibe. In interviews, I always get the feeling that Kate wants to think of herself as an OK mother and wife. And so she starts sharing a bunch of "motherly duties" anecdotes to reaffirm to her insecure self that she is, indeed, an OK mom and wife. She has been said to be very self-conscious 'n' insecure on sets as well, and so it wouldn't surprise me if it extended to her domestic life. (If anything, I think she feels compelled to project this veneer of confidence - the "I've finally got it all figured out" attitude.) Neurotic case and all, I still like Kate, think she's a great actress, and has a relatively nice personality, but that unneeded nose job (did she really need to minimize that bridge?!) was really disappointing. Re: her and Jim I think I remember hearing Jim's grandfather blurting out to the press that Jim felt like he was under Kate's shadow. It seemed like there was an ego problem going on there - he was neurotic about not being the breadmaker, so to speak. Anyway, even though Kate does not speak as openly about current hubby Sam as she did with Jim, I still think she has that insecure thing going on there (with her kids). During her marriage to Jim, she was always more than willing to talk about how great her marriage is going, how happy they are, la-dee-dah, etc.

Yes. This is the vibe I get -- she's very eager to act like she has it all under control. Maybe not a "know it all" like I said earlier, but she definitely wants everyone to think of her as earth-motherly.
The natural childbirth lie should have been a huge red flag. It is very common for women to feel like failures after a c-section because birthing a child has become a competitive sport and because there is a sense of loss of not having the "natural" experience. I think that's probably only in the US, Britain and a few other places. In S. Africa the c-section rate for white women with private insurance is 60%, mainly for the convenience of the doctor, who tells mom it's for her convenience.
Sorry, totally off-topic, but publicly lying about your c-section when you are totally going to get caught is a bit off the rails. At least she was honest about the reason when it did come out.

In Kate's defense, "All the King's Men" was supposed to come out last year and "Romance and Cigarettes" has been looking for a distributor forever, so it is not entirely her fault if we get sick of her this year.
What is not in her defense is the nose job. I just noticed it recently watching "Titanic" (only the good parts, after the iceberg hits) and totally agree it was unecessary and makes me think she's not as immune to the requirements as laid out in the Starlet Handbook as she wants us to think she is. And she's definitely kept her weight way down, even if she's not anorexic-skinny, she's definitely much thinner than she used to be. However, I can't entirely blame her for weight issues when she spent a year on the set with James Cameron calling her "Kate Weighs-a-lot."
I also remember some article in Rolling Stone after Titanic where her mother got really snappish about how hard it is on the rest of the family that she's so famous and how there are other talented family members (I think her whole family were part of a local theater company - in Reading, perhaps?). Maybe they caught her mom in a tough moment, but I have always felt somewhat sorry for her after reading that and assumed she married young to get the hell away from her parents.
All said, I still think she is beautiful (and was before the rhinoplasty) and extraordinarily talented.

I don't think I've seen her with the nose job...or maybe I have and I just didn't know it. Is it a fact, was it recently and are there pictures?

But she didn't "get caught" (and I don't see how she ever would have). It was something she came out with on her own after she had her second kid. She was like, "it was stupid to feel that way".
