well thanks to the Rachel MacAdam thread I did a search and Mr Ford doesn't seem to have a thread, so I figured I'd start it
I think he qualfies as celeb, n'est ce pas?
I don't know much about him, basically took note when he took over Gucci, but then he fell off the radar until the firing (which I know nothing about, and would love info on...anyone?)
He has always struck me as an egomaniac, what with the wanting to get into films business (again know nothing about it and would love info)
I also find him really weirdly obsessed with the notion of "women" and sexy women and how HE defines sexy for women (read some article about the current YSL designer who was forced to work with him under the Gucci group and found Tom's attitude in direct opposition to his own aesthetic of the elegant woman)
any how there you are, any snark will be eagerly read.

While I did find some of his collections for Gucci to be quite nice, and while I do find some of the words that come out of his mouth to be hilarious (although most likely unintentionally on his part), I dislike him very much. If he had continued on as a designer, and just a designer, I could probably get behind him, but he seems too hellbent on becoming a multi-tasking celebrity. Acting, directing, a makeup line, a menswear line (at least he mentioned wanting to do this in an interview I read), guest editing for magazines...it's all a little too much for me. I become really incensed when people think that because they are an artist in one area, they can do anything artistic! He could prove me wrong, but I doubt it. Like a lot of designers, he has a huge ego, but while I can tolerate that and even admire it in others, I can't bring myself to excuse it in him. Yes, I might have a few pieces that he has designed, and I love them, but as a person he just bugs. Also, while I do think he has a lot of talent as a designer, I think some of the fawning over him was really unnecessary...yes, he's talented, but he's not quite the Savior of Fashion that he was heralded as. He is a pretty, pretty man though. Always immaculate looking.

And always squinting, which he must think is sexy. And always wearing the same black suit, no tie, open shirt.

I liked his designs with Gucci but I don't like him. There is a "favorites" feature with him in the current InStyle, and almost every answer he gave annoyed me. I can't pinpoint exactly why he annoyed me but he did.

Anyway, I found the quote "I can reupholster a couch in a weekend" a real turn on. Truly, how many heterosexual males out there have the balls to complete a project like that? He's a polished puddle with an impeccable instinct on how to be truly masculine, and the 'real men' should be taking notes. I also think his face is beautiful. I hope he'll stay away from filmmaking, and leave that to Madonna.

I guess the tally still stands at "0" since Ford isn't heterosexual.

I guess the tally still stands at "0" since Ford isn't heterosexual. I am aware of the irony and still think he's 100 times more man than most white collar nanderthals I can think of.

Really. Things like "I don't eat fries- ever." and "Don't they know it's the ultimate in chic not to carry anything?" seem very Gwyneth-esque to me.

I find his whole aesthetic to be really played out and tiresome. It's a good thing he's retired from the fashion industry because I think he'd just be embarassing himself now. People have moved on from that whole porno-chic look he was trying to push on everyone.

When I first saw this catagory, I thought you were talking about the director. Then I realized that I was thinking of John Ford.
