I also think she was more attractive before. Realizing she did it probably for the roles (and maybe the health although honestly she didn't seem unhealthily overweight but I'm no doctor). Now she just looks so average. She's just another blonde skinny actress and honestly there are too many of them as it is. I must confess that in those linked pictures she looks better than she did a few months ago . . . During the fall TV season I remember seeing some photos of her at some party and she just looked sort of sick. You could see her collarbone and it just wasn't nearly as healthy looking as those on the previous page are. OK, some googling helped. Here is the photo I was talking about that made me sort of sad when I saw it.

Not to pick a nit here, but I just don't think that collarbones are a great judge of skinniness. I'm sitting here scarfing a huge slice of chocolate cake, I'm 150, wear a size 8, have lots of muscle, but my collarbones are just as prominent as Sara's.
For the record, I think she looks great now (even better if she had red hair). I just read somewhere that a waist size larger than 35 inches puts you at risk for something or the other (I'm totally into details, heh). My waist is about 31 inches which makes me believe her's was larger than 35.

Wow, she looks like Bernadette Peters in the photo Jensational linked!
I'm not familiar with her, but if she's happier/healthier/physically more comfortable at a lower weight, we should be happy for her, so long as she didn't go to abusive lengths to get there. The loss of that lovely red hair is another matter entirely.

I doubt that she's happier, healthier etc. at this new weight. Her old weight was only a size 10/12, which by no one's standards should be considered fat, so she was probably about 150 pounds to start. And she was always saying she was only considered "big" when in comparison to Hollywood expectations, if you saw her walking in a mall you'd probably think her old weight ws perfect.
I expect she lost weight just to see how it felt to be on the other side for a change, which is easy to do when you're in your twenties. I hope she finds a weight she feels comfortable enough to settle in to.

I'm happy for her for having lost weight if that is what she wants and if she feels better. It does seem like she's done it healthfully, with diet and exercise. I don't think that it is Sarah Rue's responsibility to stay at a heavier weight on behalf of her fans.
That said, I hate the hair. I wished she'd stayed a redhead. She looked really cute and memorable in her before pictures, and now she just looks bland. Plus, girlfriend has a chin that you could chip ice with, and it's more pronounced now that her face is thinner.

My rule of thumb with celebs (and people in general) is "Do they look healthy?" Some people are naturally skinny, some people are meant to be more curvy and look terrible when they lose weight.
For example, Lindsay Lohan looked terrible when she lost all that weight because Mother Nature intended for her to have some meat on her bones. Paris Hilton is a skinny sack of bones, but she actually doesn't look unhealthy to me (probable various STDs aside). She looks like someone who is designed to be skinny and she would look weird if she started gaining weight.
SR still looks healthy to me, so I say she's fine, other than with the blonde hair she's pretty bland now.
I think the timing of her weight loss makes sense - ABC canceled her show, she's at a crossroads, she's probably looking to make some changes in her career, and she's tired of casting directors talking about her waistline. Sad as it is - since this should not matter at all and I think she looked fabulous before - this will probably open more doors for her. Her weight has no effect on her talent, but this is Hollywood.

I don't think she should stay heavier for her fans, either. Just like I don't think she should lose weight for anyone other than herself; which is, I suspect, what happened. It's a shame that women (in general, but also in the industry, obviously) feel that they have to tow the line and manufacture themselves into parodies of Hollywood beauty.
I could be entirely wrong. It's possible that there were health concerns, or she just finally "did it" and lost the weight, or a host of other perfectly sound reasons.
At the heart of it though, I think, is that she wanted some roles/fame that she couldn't get with the body she had. A body, I'd like to point out, that is strikingly similar to a large majority of the female population.

I agree with all of your post kostgard.
I was worried when I clicked on the link but she's not unhealthily thin or anything so, as long as she doesn't keep losing weight, I'm not bothered. I wish she'd kept the red hair though.

I guess it's not just the collarbone thing. She just sort of looks pointy and sickish IMO. Just my opinion though. Hell, it might just be a bad picture. Just everything looks sort of sharp and off to me.

In those first photos on page 1, I thought she was Reese Witherspoon. She looks like she still has a fair amount of boobage now, however.
One of the reasons why starlets tend to go blonde and straight-haired is that a flat, light surface around your face reflects more light around your face. More light = fewer opportunities to show shadows, wrinkles, etc.
