Who was the Prince of Wales before Charles? Was Elizabeth the Princess of Wales? I believe it would have been Edward VIII prior to his becoming King. I think because Elizabeth's father was just made King when Edward abdicated, they didn't get the Wales titles, but I could be wrong!

Who was the Prince of Wales before Charles? Was Elizabeth the Princess of Wales? Prince Edward of York, known as David by the family, who was briefly King Edward VIII, then Duke of Windsor after he abdicated, was the Prince of Wales before Charles. The Princess of Wales has always been the wife of the Prince of Wales, never the heir. I think they would use Princess Royal for a girl who was in line to inherit. It traditionally goes to the oldest female child of the monarch. Elizabeth was not named Princess Royal by her father, because her aunt already held the title until 1965 (after Elizabeth became Queen ). Elizabeth named Anne as Princess Royal, a title she will keep until she dies, at which time Charlotte would be the one next in line (if William were King). The timing is at the monarch’s discretion. Anne was 37 when she became Princess Royal and her great-aunt had been dead for 22 years.

Hmmm... George telling classmates they better watch out bc his dad will be king..... Charming kid. Eh, if it's true, I just figure that he's 9. Kids are kids and I can think of a zillion times I've heard, "My dad can beat up your dad" in my life. Besides, I would imagine that all the kids in his school are fully aware of who he is and who his family is. Forget that his dad will be king, his grandfather IS king. That would be a better lead in for those he's getting into a scrape with (again, if true). Page Six is a such a rag looking for anything they can do to fill in RBF goss now that the funeral is over.

It must be (extra) weird for George these last weeks. The world nearly came to a standstill with the Queen’s death and the media has been laser focused more than ever on his immediate family. He participated in the funeral watched by billions, and the whole country — including his classmates — all got the day off to watch it (and see him) because his great-granny died. They all have new last names and his parents are going to be busier than ever before. I imagine the notion of becoming king one day is hitting closer to home.

Honestly if it’s true then it’s gross that someone would run to a reporter to report on something a child has said. It’s a complete and utter invasion of his privacy.
And honestly haven’t we all said dumb things when we are kids?

Hmmm... George telling classmates they better watch out bc his dad will be king..... Charming kid. Wasn't his first day at his new school the day the Queen died? So he probably doesn't know his classmates already and they probably all know one another. He's the new kid. I can remember having "My dad can beat up your dad" conversations when I was his age, until one of my friends announced her mother had been a drill sergeant and was now a firefighter, so she won. I also had a relative die when I was 10, and it was a very strange mix of being the center of attention ("We have to be nice to seat6 today; her grandfather just died") and intense pressure to be on my best behavior and not knowing when it was OK to cry or eat or wander off by myself. My parents were both occupied with all sorts of funeral duties and so there would be moments when I was the center of attention and then moments when no one was bothering with me at all. And that's when I got a stomach bug and threw up in the car. I tried to roll down the window and only succeeded in projectile vomiting onto myself and the seat. So thankfully George remained healthy and did not puke all over the limo, Charlotte, Camilla, and Kate. I'm sure Kate and William will instill in George the same sense of duty they feel. He seems, from the brief glimpses we get of him, to be a normal, lively little boy. When he starts dressing up in Nazi costumes, partying naked in Vegas, and insulting the entire country of Nepal, then I'll start to worry about him.

I'm pretty sure there were stories of a young William threatening to make new rules to punish people or lock them up some day when he became king. He was reportedly a holy terror up until he was about 5 or 6 years old. It's pretty common for young kids to use whatever advantages they think they have to put their little playmates in their place from time to time. "My dad's a policeman" or "my mom's the school principal" so "you'd all better watch out!"

I wonder why he didn’t say “*I* will be king one day, so…”
