March 30th here. I belonged to both FT and TWOP starting in 2000 I think, but I never posted much at Twop. I posted a lot at FT and had just upped my posting level when they announced they were going away. I was so pissed! I still remember the post about this board at FT. Pretty sure it came from Moldy Tofu? Just looked up my registration date-- Mar 9, 2005 at 8:31pm. I moved to NYC in the late 90s and my first friend at the office told me about Mr. Showbiz, which I would read incessantly on Netscape! I signed up at FT/TWoP around late 2000. I rarely posted on TWoP because I found it intimidating, but I loved FT. I remember being elated that I'd found my people. But my happiest pop culture memories were made right here. Kool aid Katie and pillow-gate, the Britney/Paris/Lindsay crotch-shot spectacular, Britney's 5150 saga, Paris being dragged back to jail, the Tiger Woods skankalanche, Jlo's third divorce, Laura Jean Poon, etc.

YKYAtCPMCoG when Sprint keeps sending you warnings about your bandwidth usage, and your account doesn't re-set until the 6th of the month. I have to ration my time until Friday! (Although I have a Youtube/boyband problem, too. These addictions can go hand in hand.)

MEMORIES! I started following here and it was my favorite bookmark as the implosion was going down. But I didn't register for two more years! Not until 2007. I read pretty much every day, but didn't get the nerve to register for while. I waited until I was sure I wasn't going to get run off for not being cool enough. I was at Hissyfit and Fametracker, and felt like a total loser at both. Good Lord I don't miss those sites! But it was fun. I also registered but almost exclusively lurked at MBTV/TWOP. Damn Hell Ass Kings were just mean and exclusionary. I never did get that. Why be mean? It's the frigging internet, people! I remember one thread where people were talking crap about state universities and I felt so bewildered and kinda bummed. I remember after Hissyfit, there was a similar board I would check out with similar topics, and it was called Three Way Action? The posters seemed nice and lovely, and like a close knit group but my inner prude died every time I would enter the address. Like, what if I died, and someone saw my search history and was all, oh, wow, narm, we never knew, but that's cool... I just couldn't get past the name. Anyway, I have always, always loved how the posters at all the above sites had something substantial to say. Even if I didn't agree! It's still just fun. I think pop culture is so important as a lens and barometer, and I love talking to other people about it. And God help me in this time of Lent, but the Jesus thread will never NOT be funny.

June 21 over here. I was at TWOP and FT as Borokat, although I did not post all that much at Fametracker and when I did, I scrutinized every post to avoid even the possibility of a mod smack down or looking like an idiot. I think we all know that fear did not follow to CPMOG. I knew that everyone was headed over here but it took me three months to join because life was just bananas at the time. When I joined, 1.0 had just turned one and we had all survived a serious car accident. I was thinking about becoming a yoga instructor and planning our ten year high school reunion. Today, that same baby is almost eleven, he is an older brother to a seven-year-old sister, we live in a different state, I did teach yoga for six years and now I work for a newspaper. How life changes in a decade.

Our "official" 10th anniversary date is March 5th. Keep an eye out for a little announcement.

I apparently lurked until November 2005 before signing up. Before that I was (minimally anyway)at Mediarama, Hissyfit, Fametracker, TWOP, and 3WayAction.
And yes, I was afraid if I accessed 3WayAction at work I would get a concerned phone call from IT.

I wonder whatever happened to that site! They really did seem nice and it appeared as if there were thoughtful discussions going on all the time, like a mix of HF and here. I do remember one poster being diagnosed with terminal cancer and while I was not really familiar with anyone, it made me SO sad.
There was another celeb forum similar to this, with a blue hued layout that I frequented for like a week after FT blew up. This was really only the only site that at all resonated with me. I always really liked how folks always accepted folks no matter what the pop culture quirk. I also loved how threads that could go all sorts of deep were encouraged, such as Feminism.

I'm pretty sure I ended up here whilst searching for special-needs parenting boards--I came for the parenting board here and stayed for the aMAzing snark in the Celebrities threads...

Remember when Diablo Cody was a member and got an Academy Award nom for the screenplay of Juno? She found out through CPMCoG that she was tapped to wear some sort of fancy diamond encrusted high heels on the red carpet and kind of freaked out, since her feet couldn't tolerate heels. (She wound up not wearing them.)

There was another celeb forum similar to this, with a blue hued layout that I frequented for like a week after FT blew up. Snarkfest? What I remember is that when the Fametracker forums were shutting down, three forums popped up to fill the void, all emulating FT's subject divisions. Somebody who had a website promoting a book she'd written (PX This) appended a FT-clone pop culture section to her black-and-green forums, and likewise somebody with a garish pink Proboards forum dedicated to royalty gossip added on all of FT's subject areas (and here we are, ten years later.) A third group started a new blue forum on Forumer and actually gave it a name reflective of its subject, SnarkFest. I feel like half the FT regulars ended up at SnarkFest, and the other half ended up at CPMCoG. I belonged to both SF and CPMCoG for years, liking them both about equally. Snarkfest moved/shut down/rebooted/relaunched a bunch of times, though--I think one time, it was because one of the mods went crazy and locked all the other mods out or something. I eventually stopped following them because I like to read way more than I post, and while they were a great bunch of people, their numbers had kind of fallen below critical mass for generating stuff for me to read. --sumire, Greecie since March 7, 2005, although you wouldn't guess it from my web presence.
