My dad grew up poor and they didn't celebrate birthdays so I think he thinks a big to-do for birthDAYs are ridiculous, unless it's some kind of a milestone.
It's another good thing about being off Facebook--I don't see that birthday month attention-courting stuff any more. None of the people I'm good friends with in real life do that sh*t.

This isn't a wishful entry, but Wendy Williams is clearly in a spiral.

I've been waiting for someone to bring up WW! Is this all in reaction to her husband having an outside child? Poor Wendy! This has been a terrible few months.

I guess her husband has been a POS for a long time, but she's determined to ride or die??? I know this is the ultimate "internet stranger commenting on someone else's relationship" but I don't think things will get better for her until she throws in the towel with him. God knows she's had enough wake-up calls about this.

People on Facebook who advertise their "birthday month". Lookit me! Lookit me! Shut up. I have friends who do this. I hate them in this mode. It's a birthDAY. Not birthweek. Or birthmonth. Or six-month countdown. Shut up already.

Twenty years after being treated for tongue cancer, Eddie Van Halen has undergone surgery for throat cancer in Germany. Never a good diagnosis, but here's hoping for a successful recovery.

Pardon my ignorance, but how would a guitar pick cause cancer? Is it made from a toxic material? Just from looking at Eddie, he looks like a smoker. ETA: I just googled it myself, and this popped up in an article: So yeah. Highly unlikely. I thought picks were made from asbestos or something.

I recall Valerie Bertinelli saying that one of the reasons behind their divorce was his refusal to quit smoking after his first cancer diagnosis.

Oncology can probably be a depressing field, but I imagine that Eddie's doctor had a very hard time keeping a straight face when he told Eddie that yes, it's possible his cancer was caused by guitar picks and electromagnetic recording studio energy, and not 5 decades of smoking.
