I never kept up with this thread a the Other Board but I've just read this one and...wow. There's some scary shit out there. The only crazy fan story I witnessed (without realizing what it was) is about Orlando (of course!). Maybe some of you here remember this too or know about and can help me figuring out what the hell really happened. Back in late 2001/early 2002, when the whole Orlando internet craze started, on every website about him (and there weren't that many back then) there would be mention of someone called Andre "Atti" Schneider, a German actor and Orlando's best friend. He gave interviews about their friendship, how they had shot this film together (Lullaby of Clubland) and so on. There were reviews about this film, cast interviews, Orlando interviews and so on. There would also be some info on another Orlando film called "Deed Poll". Do I have to mention that both films were some kind of porn/psycho/inscest-themed films? Andre even posted a lot of detailed information on one of the boards and talked about the up-coming releases of the movies he and Orlando starred in. Anyway, I didn't really follow the whole thing after a while. Orlando was more of an internet star back then, and the internet was full of bits and pieces about two movies that strangely enough were never released. A few months ago I stumbled over this "confession". Apparently Andre had made up everything he ever said about Orlando and the movies. It's the weirdest thing ever. (And these days there is an imdb page for Deed Poll, starring Andre but not Orlando.) Does anybody know more about this whole thing? Seriously, Orlando has some crazy fans.

When scary fans use their powers for good: A rampage of Claymates drive Rush Limbaugh to beg for mercy. Rush tries to score pity points by citing his hearing disability. link

Rattlerbrat, you should have your own Topic page.I'd love to hear those stories. Awwwww, thanks! Okay, last one - I swear. It's down now, but our site has a guestbook where people can leave messages for Nona, who visits the site from time to time. Her mother is also a regular, so needless to say, every message is screened and most of them are denied for all types of reasons - from people leaving personal information (including their home addresses and phone numbers) to all kinds of lewd and disrespectful messages. Annnnyway, we get this one guy, whom we nicknamed "Mr. Love Gravy"[/url] (for the South Park fans). The reason for the nickname, for those who never heard the song, is that the guy's message was so long, rambling, nonsensical and funny as shit, same as the song. In fact, the message was so long, that it was actually cut OFF - and our cutoff is actually 3,000 characters. That's nearly two pages in Microsoft Word! (note to self: shorten that considerably when the guestbook goes back up.) Where it started to get disturbing was when he starts talking about how he wants to >> make love to Nona while "Let's Get It On" plays in the background. Why? Because (and I'm paraphrasing) he said "what better way to pay tribute to Marvin than to make love to his daughter the way Marvin would've wanted it done - the right way. I'm sure he would look down upon us and smile, and his spirit would be in the room with us, Nona." Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. Because when I'm making love, the first thing I want in the room is my father's spirit.<< Love-love-love-love-love GRA-VAY!

Someone proposing that to me would send me fleeing to the nearest convent. Or else drive me to consider switching teams- permanently.
The brain bleach is on my desk, if anyone needs it. Right next to the whiskey.

Just going to add something a little different here. When Jerry Garcia died, there was a dispute over his estate. His second wife, Mountain Girl, was recieving modest child support and alimony payments that were just drawn up between her and Jerry. (By modest, I mean just a few thousand a month, not even close to what she should have recieved considering the millions he was worth.) His wife at the time of his death, Debroah Koons wanted to cut off payments to Mountain Girl and "Jerry's kids". The Deadhead online community (The Well) went nuts, calling Deb "The Black Widow" and sending rousing letters of support for Mountain Girl to the lawyers involved. The thing is though, Deadheads are a culture, not a fandom, or a cult, so it kind of came across as protective siblings looking out for Mountain Girl's interests against the "newcomer" Koons. There certainly weren't death threats or anything like that, as I can recall, 'cause stoners don't have the mindset or energy for that sort of thing. IIRC, Mountain Girl kept recieving her modest payments (which she richly deserved for being there through a HUGE heroin addiction and a life spent entirely on the road), and Koons has faded back into Deadhead obscurity. Of course, I realize this whole story is WAY obscure unless you're a Deadhead, but there ya go, LOL.

So that's what happened!! I'm a big Whovian myself but geez, that was just stupid. Plus Eccleston I found to be a fairly atypical Doctor, I'm kind of sad he's going but you don't see me going apeshit over it. Besides, I think Tarrant is going to be a good one, I just have the feeling.
Shame about the death threats. I was sitting back reading this thread and saying 'well, at least Doctor Who doesn't have any weirdos besides me (and I only write those 'Scenes You Never Wanted to See' skits)!' WRONG. D'oh.
No, I think it's pretty much that people take their religious WAY too seriously. And need serious emotional/mental help. Gah!
I would think it's just sick. It kinda shows you really need to put your life into order and reorder your priorities pronto. Double Gah!

Hey, could be worse. At least they weren't doing it in blood this time, as they apparently did to Michael Grade when it was taken off air in 1986. And at least, unlike some Sherlock Holmes fans I've heard of, we Whovians actually accept that our favourite character doesn't and never actually existed.
