I think I know exactly what (s)he's talking about and, wow, that's reaching! On one of the Alias DVD commentaries, a writer says something like this is one of the few shows where you can no one ever really dies and Jen says except for maybe Buffy. That's the only time I recall where's she's mentioned Buffy. That's it. I adore both, but you're not required to watch one to like the other. Besides, I think that the Avengers (Diana Rigg years) has more in common sometimes.
Of course, I am bad since I did fully convert my former roommate into Buffy obsession, but I had a good reason to. She was completely Friends and Simpson obsessed when we were living together. And I'm talking syndicated repeats, every day, every time they were on. Which is a lot. Knowing all the dialogue, repeating it by heart, etc.
So a year or two down the line, she's talking film/television classes (I'm in film school) and we're talking about how much fun it'd be to co-author a book studying TV or something. She says she's never seen Buffy, but always meant to...cue the slumber party and my revenge! The show really works better seen as a whole and from the beginning (same with Alias), which is why it tends to inspire such obsession rather than casual viewing.

I was wrong: Mulder's true love was Krycheck Damn straight! But then he shot him; bastard. (For the record: I still haven't finished Season 9. I just stopped caring. Dead Krycek + Mombie Scully + Moronica = crap.) Topic? I do own all the Buffy DVD's, but I don't think I'm an obsessive fan. I was watching some "Inside Hollywood" show this week and it was about stalkers. There was one who was stalking Nicole Kidman, and another who was stalking that Jeri woman from Star Trek. Truly creepy.

Re: X-Files... I got stalled somewhere around season 6 or so. I just stopped caring when it was clear that the writers didn't care, either. One of my friends has the whole series on DVD. I'm currently somehwere in the middle of Season 3. When it all still seemed to mean something.

I was personally ambivalent about Mulder and Scully; Mulder and Krycek definitely made a hotter couple in my opinion. HOWEVER, this opinion never led me to write scary slash like some of the sickos out there. I stumbled over some of that when I was about thirteen and I don't know if I've been the same since.
Actually, Skinner shot Krycek, not Mulder...sorry, couldn't help it--that (almost unwatchable) episode was on the other day. I wouldn't have stopped to watch it if the first thing I'd seen were someone other than Nicholas Lea. Mmmm.

Hey...anyone been touched recently by the Browncoats to get acquainted with "Serenity"?
The IMDB boards for Serenity at times are almost $cieno. Oy.

I've come to the conclusion that the IMDb boards have become a haven for whackjobs and illiterates. Maybe it's because the admins over there aren't good for much.

IMDB. Eleventy gazillion forums, three moderators.
Though I really do suspect that IMDB themselves pay people to post wildly derogatory and flaming posts to keep things busy. One person on the Serenity forums posted every few minutes for over twenty four hours. Not a single break longer than twenty minutes or so, and that I assume was time spent researching bad things to say about the movie.

That EP upset me so much that I've blocked most of it from my memory. About the slash: I heard there was a LOT of Mulder/Krycek and Skinner/Doggett stories, but I never read any.

So Hayden Christensen was photographed on the beach with a woman and some magazine said she was a model named Lola Skye. Apparently, she is going through cancer treatments right now. So, what do the people lusting after Hayden do? They bombard her with hate mail and constantly harass her via email. She's had to close her website and her myspace account and post a message saying that she can't deal with all the negativity and to please leave her alone.
You have to be a special kind of crazy to target a cancer patient because you heard she may be dating an actor you have a crush on.
I also agree on the massive crazy that goes on at the Imdb boards. I swear, all the psychos out there in cyberspace post there.
