She's in a new film, The Family Stone, with Sarah Jessica Parker, Luke Wilson, and Rachel McAdams. She's had a very interesting career and life, and I like the fact that she's not lifted and tucked into ridiculousness. As a fashion icon? Eh...not so much.

I remember being surprised when I first saw The Godfather. I didn't know Diane Keaton had ever been glam and girly. The image I grew up with was of the First Wives' Club always-wears-pantsuits Diane.

She looked gorgeous in Father of the Bride. And in Something's Gotta Give? I hope my nekkid bod looks that good when I'm nearly 60. But in real life she likes to be completely covered up.

I'm torn on her. I like her as an actress, but I hate her self-hating shtick--the bad clothes, the jittery affectations, the interviews and speeches where she acts like she accidentally fell into a film career.

I don't know, she just bugs offscreen.

poorfrances, i shared the same shock the first time I saw The Godafther too. She looked great in Something's Gotta Give. I wish she had adapted the same style in real life.

Is she supposed to be pretty in the Godfather? I always saw her as somewhat dumpy in that movie, probably because her character was so irritating.

She's supposed to look as WASP-y as possible. But she did look dumpy.

I wouldn't have said so. I assumed she was Michael's plain and sensible girlfriend. I also think that she was another way to rebel against his family, (before he decided he was a Corleone through and through). She definitely wasn't the love of his life.

As for Diane...I liked her in First Wives' Club and that's about it. I think that the only other film I've seen her in (apart from The Godfather) was that Sleeper one by Woody Allen, in which she was supposed to be incredibly glam in the beginning. I never thought that look suited her. She looks better in classical stuff than trying to be glamorous.

I just don't like her. I'm not sure why. I always feel like I should like her, but she just bugs me. It's irrational.
