No problem! I'm a 7th grade teacher so I rarely succeed in teaching anything. I only know about them because my husband is from that area and I kept seeing these people. They really don't look like any other people except those from the Mediterranean area. Also his local paper publishes articles about their cultural celebration days and such.

He's from Wytheville, Virginia. They really aren't too friendly - I think they are still discriminated against and getting few and far between in some areas, so they keep to themselves.

Melungeons are in Tennessee, West Virginia, the mountains of Virginia and Kentucky. I'd say Wytheville isn't small, but my town is populated by about 500 people, so my frame of reference is skewed. Wytheville has about 5,000 people living there.
