Can't see pics. Scroll back a few pages to see the explanation of her daughter's genealogy. Genetics are a funny thing and sometimes they're hysterical.

Click and drag the link to see the pic.
Are both children from the same father? Because they don't look anything alike, skin tone being the most obvious aspect. If so, it just shows the diversity of human genes.

Actually, Victoria Rowell's children have different fathers.
And yep, heredity is funny. Colin Farrell's little boy who is biracial, looks more "stereotypically Irish" (reddish hair, blue eyes) than Colin ( dark hair with dark brown eyes that are almost black).

veronicamars it was kind of rambly and I got sick of reading it but it seemed to be asserting that Spanish and Irish people do not share close ties and there hasn't been a lot of inter-marraige, which just ain't true. Here is a link. Sorry if it's posted wrong! I can't figure out this board. ( Link No sign of anyone repainting all the Celtic Music signs on pubs yet Topic? It is indeed very hard to believe that is Vin Diesels twin brother!

Just popping in to this discussion as I happen to actually be Irish, sitting here in Dublin as we speak.
The poster above is correct, the term "Black Irish" is not used in Ireland. It seems to be an American creation.
Whilst it is true that a staggering amount of Irish people look pretty Spanish (incl. much of my own family) the difference is that we don't really care where that colouring comes from - hence there not being any need for such terms.
Why not? Well, because you couldn't possibly count all the permutations of colouring in the Irish population. We're a country that's been invaded a lot, first by those pesky Scandinavians and then by the Brits (who were a hodgepodge of races themselves) and Ireland and Spain did have a very healthy trade route for centuries (i.e. lots of sailors). In the western city of Galway there's a part of town called "The Spanish Quarter". All this different blood came from somewhere, that's for sure. We just don't care where! We have such a strong cultural identity that all this blood talk seems a bit laughable.
In any one family you may have numerous members with different colourings. In mine, some are incredibly dark-skinned, some have brown hair, red hair, some are blond, like me. The dark ones turn mahogany after 15 minutes in the sun - my skin cannot tolerate any sun at all and just burns - never tans. My sister produces so little melanin that she's been warned by doctors to never go out in the sun at all.....yet oddly, she's a brunette. We all share the same blood, and we'd all swear blind we're Celtic.
So my point? Race is a state of mind.

Thanks, bfrog. Wow, nice to chat with a Dubliner! Some day I hope to go to your beautiful country.
Someone mentioned above that there are some members of the black community who think that almost every light skinned black is biracial. I am one of those light skinned blacks or as my mom calls me, a "light bright" and more than a few black people and almost everyone that isn't black seems to think that I am biracial, when I am not.
Another example of this is Prince. When he came out, everyone and their mother thought he was mixed, when as far as I know, both of his parents are black, although extremely light.

But wasn't part of the confusion that when Prince played "The Kid" in Purple Rain, a movie that was presumably his life story (though it may have not been at all), his mother was Italian or Greek or something.

That was a big part of it. Some people say that Prince deliberately fudged his racial makeup. Even today, it is hard to get at the truth.
