Adriana Lima's Victoria's Secret diet:[/color] The only positive thing I think to say about that is at least she's not prattling on about chasing babies to keep her slim. But deliberately dehydrating herself? Man, that is SO bad for the body.

I actually read the comments in that article--and they all say it's a crazy, f'ed up way to fit into a bra.
I agree.

How can she go 12 hours without drinking anything? I can barely go two hours without a sip of water.

I guess the no liquids for 12 hours before the runway bit is extreme, but other than that, her diet/exercise regime isn't that shocking to me for what she is, a supermodel. The VS runway show is the biggest event of her career each year, so it makes sense that she'd work her butt off to look perfect, since it's her job. At least she drinks the protein shakes- there are a lot of models who probably don't even ingest that many calories on a normal day.

Well, she doesn't say how MUCH of a protein shake she'll actually ingest. 2 sips? 3 sips?
I also don't think it's too outrageous given her profession. Now, my friend who basically is on that regime and works in mutual fund sales? True insanity.

Yup, sounds like how bodybuilders prepare for a competition. I remember one guy on MTV's "True Life" having water and a huge bowl of lettuce during his family's traditional Italian Sunday dinner.
Good for her for being honest.

At least (a) she's using a nutritionist, and (b) (and this is way more important) is being honest about what it takes to be a model, especially an older one. I'm sick of hot women saying, "I love to eat! For lunch I had a bacon cheeseburger and fried pie!" And all those commenters saying that's a messed-up thing to do just to fit into a bra? Are the same ones who would call her a fat cow and say how unfuckable and responsible for the obesity epidemic she is if she were 5lbs heavier.

I don't doubt that she would be criticized if she were a few pounds heavier, but I think that it would be a completely different segment that would be doing the slamming.

I'm not surprised either, and I do appreciate her honesty. People work their butts off in all kinds of ways for their career - she does it literally! I likewise appreciate Jessica Alba's honesty about losing the baby weight. It makes me like them more to know they aren't naturally gorgeous AND super thin.

It is not the same as a dietitian which requires accreditation. I just can't imagine a real health care professional recommending that regimen. I agree that at least she is being brutally honest about what it takes to be a supermodel. I hope this helps put an end to the myth that Victoria Secret/ Sports Illustrated models are somehow healthier and their bodies more attainable then runway models. The only difference is boobs. Usually fake.
