Oprah only ate 8 almonds and water for days before the Oscars.
Discuss.

I am going to try the bananas and vodka diet of Janeane Garafalo. Couldn't it at least be rum so that I could make banana daquiris?
Celebs are such lemmings. You would think with all their money they could have the best nutritionists and trainers instead of going on the raw food diet or Atkins or whatever.
In that US article about weight loss didn't it mention the diuretics and starving that a lot of celebs use?

Georgia, when I read about Janeane's banana diet, it was tequila she drank. As long as it's clear hard liquor, you're good to go! (OT, but since we're discussing Janeane, does anyone think that her going from almot-black hair to blond was a not-so-subtle way to divert attention from recent palstic surgery?)
ETA: Did Oprah admit to her almond/water diet? The only place I read it was at The Other Place butno source was given. I totally believe she would do that, but I don't believe she would admit it to her audience.

Regarding Oprah's pre-Oscar diet I read in Life & Style(at least I think it was in that mag...it was one of those ever-multiplying In Touch meets US Weekly clones) that she ate almonds and green soup. Green soup sounds suspiciously like the age-old cabbage soup diet to me.

Well, if she was living on cabbage soup, blech, I wouldn't like to have been sitting next to her at the Oscars, that's for sure. Doo Yoo

In the people Oscars edition there was an article on the celebrity diets stars used to prepare for the Oscars. I totally believe that they all starve, even though the article mentioned that they ate lean meats, veggies, etc. There was a quote from Oprah saying something to the effect of, "thank goodness I can eat again! I'm going to have some turkey chili now!" Wow, what a splurge [/sarcasm].

Oprah actually talked about her almond/water pre-Oscar "diet" on some TV show I saw. I think it was the Hollywood Insider. One of those Entertainment Tonight type shows, anyway. But she didn't say it was 8 almonds a day. I think she said it was a handful or two of almonds a day.

Oh, goody, my favorite thread!
Gwen Stefani also supposedly starved herself for two weeks before her Vogue shoot. I can see the stunt-dieting thing before magazine covers or special occasions like the Oscars where you will be photographed a bazillion times. Cutting out the carbs and watching what you eat at those times seems like rational professional behavior for Hollywood stars.
But on a regular basis, especially in between films or appearances...come on, eat like a normal (healthy) person. Elizabeth Hurley I-eat-only-once-a-day, I'm looking at you.

I could have sworn that she only did this the day before or the day of the Oscars. But I don't know for sure.

The picture worth a thousand words in this case is the one of Hilary Swank and Chad Lowe gorging at McDonald's the minute the Oscars were over.
