Ergh. This is a very fucked-up world when someone can reach the heights of, say, a Nicole Kidman and not eat enough out of choice. I totally agree. I hope Nicole donates all the money she doesn't spend on food to third world countries, because there are people there who would love to be able to eat, but can't.

From Izabella Scorupo's IMDB bio: "Once said that when working for Ford Modeling, she went without food for 4 months, using water as her only nourishment." The...hell? Isn't that physically impossible without, you know, dying? I guess "snorted blow nonstop for 4 months" isn't as catchy.

No food for four months?! I don't believe it. She would have passed out and, hopefully, been taken to the ER loooong before that.
Salma Hayek once told InStyle that when she feels fat, she skips dinner for days. She weighed 103 lbs at the time. Granted, this was a while ago, maybe 2000, so hopefully she's learned from her mistakes since.
Kim Cattrall was recently quoted in UsWeekly as saying "I diet every day of my life." I liked her honesty, but at the same time it was kinda sad.
I don't know why these actresses keep doing this to themselves. You would think someone like Nicole Kidman has enough pull to say, "I'm going to gain some weight, and that's it," and still get work. But they never do! They just keep dieting and dieting! I wish somebody really famous would finally say, "You know what, this weight thing is fucked up!" Maybe it wouldn't help, but I'd really like to hear it.

Izabella Scorupo is full of shit. No way you can go without any food for 4 months. You'd be dead after the first month, maybe sooner. Look at what happens when they remove a feeding from a hospital patient, they only live a couple of weeks (although they don't have water either). She had to eat something, even if it was just a small salad a week.

There's a basic rule of fours that doctors generally agree on. A basically healthy conscious person can survive four minutes without oxygen, four days without water, and 40 (plus) days without food. Obviously, a person's general health would greatly impact how long they could survive without food. Activity levels also impact the food/water equation (Schiavo was able to survive a lot longer without water because of her extremely low activity level).

I looked around on the internet and people had different information on how long you can survive without food, but nothing was even close to 4 months. This says at most you can live about 8 weeks on water alone and gives a little bit of information on what happens. Everything I read was pretty similar to that.

She's a slim woman to begin with. After 4 months, she would've weighed, what, 20 pounds?? She would've been at the very TOP of the modelling industry and a household name. Complete bullshit.
Elizabeth Hurley is batshit. Someone in the old thread mentioned that she carries around teeny tiny utensils so she doesn't eat too fast or too much. She's in Harper's Bazaar this month talking about how to love your body in a bikini (she's coming out with a swimwear line). Honey, you're the one carrying around kiddie forks and going to sleep miserable. I don't want to hear a lick of advice from you!
ETA: I love the ads at the top of this thread. One is for an ED treatment center and another is for a "Lose 9 pounds in 11 Days" site. Heh.

Well, perhaps going without food for 4 months can explain Isabella Scorupo turning down LA Confidential, which won Kim Basinger an Oscar, and Mask of Zorro, which made Catherine Zeta Jones a star.
Topic? I honestly think that for stars to be like Renee and Nicole, you have to be on some serious drugs. Elizabeth Hurley is model-thin so I can believe she pulls it off with smoking and going hungry 24/7, but she's not emaciated like Renee, Nicole, Kate Bosworth and all those other slebs showing their cadaverous sternums and bony extremities. Really, to do the full emaciation look more than just willpower is involved - human nature can't be that plastic!

Some of them may use drugs, but I think some of them just have anorexia. That would explain the disconnect where they don't realize that they're so skinny they really don't look good anymore.

What I don't understand is how some celebs can be huge drinkers, yet manage to stay thin. I have to abstain from alcohol to lose weight. But maybe that's why Tara gets almost unconsciously drunk, she doesn't eat all day.
