“Is that movie any good?” Well, hopefully the local newspaper’s movie critic wrote about it. If the critic is good you can trust his (it was always a man) judgment. If he wasn’t good, you either asked your friends or you took your chances. Not for movies in theaters, but I remember we had a copy of Leonard Maltin's Movie Guide that we kept by the TV so that if a movie playing on TV looked promising we could look it up in the book and decide if it was worth watching or not.

Siskel and Ebert were the main movie critics most people knew about. You didn't just see if a film had a rotten or fresh tomato beside it.

One of my Millennial co-workers was surprised to find out that I used an electric typewriter to type up my high school and college term papers (mid-80's to early 90's), and that there were electric typewriters to begin with.

Electric typewriters, what is this witchcraft you speak of,it was medieval/Victorian/Stonehenge type things, my poor strength challenged left hand little finge*r (a key right) was what it had to deal with, my (high) school, the nuns, did not believe in replacing old stuff... this sort of thing is closest to how I remember*My left hand little finger is baby sized, I’ve have toddlers mistake it for one of their own and bite me! ETA... I have two ear worms for this thread...We Are Young, heart ache to heartache we stand.. .love is a battlefield. And.... You look like a movie You sound like a song My God, this reminds me Of when we were young

Ahh, the sound of 15-20 electric typewriters in use on the long tables in the sorority house dining room at 1am, as everyone finished their term papers and proofed each other's work. SO! LOUD!

My grandfather once owned a small business where he sold and repaired typewriters and adding machines, and his leftover stock after he retired sat in his basement for decades. So I've seen electric typewriters before even though I've never used one. I had to hand write all my reports until high school, our typewriter was too old and unreliable for me to write them on it.

I learned to type on a manual typewriter. My mom bought me an electric for my Christmas present when I was a college freshman. I made some nice extra cash typing papers during my college years.

When I was your age (if you are in grade school) this little group of musicians came from a place called Liverpool and performed on Ed Sullivan. I wonder what ever happened to them.
