There are so many things that I've gotten from GameFaqs. Secrets, easter eggs, even--especially with the Silent Hill games--analysis of plots. I read the message boards while I eat. I wonder how I lived without it. How did I make it through and really enjoy video games before the Internet? It's a mystery. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

Y'know, last night I mentioned Tomb Raider 3 as a frustrating game, and today at work I remembered a worse one: Final Fantasy 10. Great game, and then towards the end you get a side quest where you have to win a race in zero seconds flat (every balloon you grab along the way takes away a second or two). And you get an Ultimate Weapon.
I was screeching by the time I finally got that &$#&ing race done in zero seconds. That afternoon was so memorable that I remember everything about it: what I was wearing, how hubby kept trying to calm me down, how much my fist hurt after pounding it into the carpet a few times, everything. Whenever someone mentions that game, that's all I remember.
Oh, did I mention the Ultimate Weapon that you got by dodging lighting 100 times? You would see a flash on the screen and you'd have about half a second to press the X. Hubby told me I was "twitching" after I got through that one. He's just jellus.
To get this back on topic, I never would have known about those side quests if not for GameFaqs. You owe me two days of my life back, GameFaqs.

My husband and I recently scored a used XBox and a bunch of games, and I've been obsessed with Star Wars:KOTOR I ever since (we also got KOTOR II, so yay!) Among the other games we got were:
Gun Blood Rayne Halo I & II Splinter Cell X-Men Legends I & II
The whole experience has really put a crimp in our RL weekend plans! I've never really played any games before (except the Sims and Myst on the PC), plus, I'm old, so learning the controller has been the biggest challenge. I like games with puzzles and quests, but my husband just prefers to fight fight fight. In fact, we got into a fight when playing X-Men together, because I was all, "Cool! Let's explore the school!" and he was all "Must Kill. As Fast As Possible!" Yeah, we've decided that multiplayer games aren't for us.

I hate that part of FF10. I got so frustrated I just said screw it, it is too frustrating and I was not going to spend another 129.00 after I throw the damn PS2 out of the window ;D. It was the American Version anyway, so I didn't have to go the extra step of facing the Dark Aeons, which is why the Celestial Weapons are so desperately needed. You can kill the final boss without most of the Celestial Weapons anyway.

Dude, yes! You go through all that trouble and then the final boss is a freaking lollipop. A lollipop that revives you every time he kills you. Because God knows that's what I want from the final battles in my games. A boss who can't stand to watch me die and casts Auto-Life on everyone in my party. *headdesk* And why was the American version so much easier, without any Dark Aeons? I am insulted! ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png)

I have no fucking clue why they didn't include the Dark Aeons. They had many different things that they didn't have in the American version, such as more than one grid, and it did piss me off. But if you want to see the Dark Aeons in action, you can YouTube them and see how difficult they are. I was so interested in seeing how hard these fuckers were, and from what I see, they are that hard, especially the Dark Bahamut. You need to have maxed stats and then some to even face them.

The Kingdom Hearts version of Sephiroth makes my cry. It also makes Sora very, very dead - over and over again.

I just want to say that I haven't done anything with my FF12 since this time last year. I've been wanting to get back to it, but I'm not really motivated. Please tell me it's worth it to finish the darned thing!

Well, I haven't finished it, but I can understand why you don't want to get back to it. The pacing is horrible. The beginning is fun, and I presume that the ending has some good stuff too (gawd, I hope so!) but the middle just drags and drags. The story takes forever and you go on side quests just to entertain yourself from the boring of the main storyline, and that only makes the pacing suffer even more.
To make things worse, I think I sort of .... don't quite understand what's going on. There are a million characters and I've lost track of all the people who have one-liners in the FMV's. I now spend those brief interludes going "Who is THAT? Huh?"
Also, I hear that somewhere further ahead than I am (Drakklor) there's a dungeon that resembles X-2's 100-level Hole O'Hell that I really, really don't want to crawl through. It better be worth it in the end!
