Also, I hear that somewhere further ahead than I am (Drakklor) there's a dungeon that resembles X-2's 100-level Hole O'Hell that I really, really don't want to crawl through. It better be worth it in the end! There's a dungeon that's pretty tough like in X-2, but nowhere near as long (unless I'm mistaking it for something else).

Oh, hooray! Tough I can handle; 100 levels of endless repeating monsters I can't. *twitches*

Bahahahahahha! The FFX-2 100 level Hole O'Hell! I went down in that thing because I always thought the next level would be the last one.
What ended up happening is that I met up with that one boss that had something like 3 moves it would cycle through... hurt your people down to 1HP, wait, or hurt you badly. I'd get killed right out of the gate the first 4 or 5 times I went up against it. It was really luck that caused me to kill it because I was way under level for that boss... it just kept waiting and waiting. Then I got Cat Nip, the Greatest! RPG! Item! Ever! If a player's in critical HP range, every hit you land on a monster takes 9,999HP... put the quick gun trigger dressy thing on Yuna and you can snap off as many 9,999HP hits as you can hit the button in like a 10 second period. If I hadn't checked gamefaqs, I would have thought the thing was useless. And such a frisky name too... Cat Nip! C'mere little frenzy kitten, let me crush you with my Dark Celestial Aeon Hammer of Hellish Doom!
What ended up happening? I was killing the rest of the game's bosses in one round.
The game got too easy, I lost interest, and stopped playing it.
But not before I went through the Labyrinth of Elementary Addition Hell. Where's a calculator when you need one?

The Labyrinth of Elementary Addition Hell! I cleared that place twice, because I wanted the thingie that they gave you for completing it twice. Whatever it was. I don't remember. But I'm sure it changed my life.
I want to play X-2 again. All this complaining has made me nostalgic.

Dang, I want to play X-2 as well. Kinda funny how many times you will play a certain game while not even completing others.

I picked up FFX-2 again and let me just say: the CommSpheres crap is really annoying me. I completely forgot about this little detail and having to watch the Mt. Gagazet Hot Springs CommSphere SIXTEEN TIMES almost made me hurl my controller. And now on to round two of watching these damn things. It's like they're trying to bore you into submission.

I have erased that part of the game from my memory, apparently. Is that the part where you have to find out who the chocobo robber is, so you watch a bunch of videos and tap x at precise moments to gather evidence or something? Ya, that part was bad.
And yet I still want to play X-2 again! So I told myself that there was no way I was starting yet another game, until I finished Final Fantasy XII, and I have spent the weekend whacking away at it. I played last night until the part where you run after that giant grey cockatrice around and around the city.
Around and around and around and around.
And nobody seems to notice or anything, they just move aside for it to run by. And then one of the NPCs came out to give me some "advice" about catching it, and I was just "Dude, if you want to help, how about you stand over here and help me head it off, ok?" Gah!

Are you referring to the chocobo in Rabanastre? That one sent me into hysterics. And I still never caught it. Hmph.

Is that the part where you have to find out who the chocobo robber is, so you watch a bunch of videos and tap x at precise moments to gather evidence or something? Ya, that part was bad. That was part of it. You had to keep watching the CommSpheres of the different areas over and over again [like, at least 5 times - the two areas of Mt. Gagazet alone had to be watched around 23 times] to see people saying/doing stuff. Most of it was just unnecessary junk - I remember the Besaid one included having to watch a dog stare at the CommSphere and watching a couple of kids playing hide-and-seek. Now I'm doing the Bikanel Desert dig to get the parts for The Experiment. And, AGAIN, you're forced into this never-ending repetition. That stupid Al-Bhed has told Yuna that she "sure loves a good dig, don't [she]?" about 20 times and I'm still not done. And I still haven't even gotten into the Hole O'Hell yet - I'm remembering why I just gave up in the first place. ETA: This is so BORING.

Argh you're right about the repetition - I had forgotten about those irritating side missions! And you have to do them all, or you don't get the 100% complete and Yuna never sees Tidus again. That guilt weighs heavily on my soul, people. (Actually, I don't even remember if that was what you got at the 100% ending, but I'm assuming. Was that even Tidus that Yuna kept seeing? I never found out!)
Re FFXII: I still haven't caught the chocobo. The advice dude told me to hide behind a pillar and jump out as it walked by. His advice does so totally not work, it's not even funny. I keep waiting for it to walk by, then I do my best leaping ninja impression, and it runs off. And then I hide behind the pillar and wait another minute for it to walk by again. My life is draining away, here.
