Andre Braugher should be famous. He was so wonderful on Homicide and one of the best things in Duets. I thought by now he'd have an Oscar. Wake up Hollywood!! He might not be famous, but I think he is pretty well respected as an actor by most people in general [or so I like to believe] which is far better. Hell, if the likes of the Hiltons, Paris and Perez, can be famous, just about anyone can be if they set their minds to and sell whatever they have for souls for it.

I also think Chris Meloni deserves more acclaim for his part in L&O:SVU. I don't see why they nominate Mariska Hargitay every damn year, and he's only been nominated once. Yeah, that seriously blows my MIND! Have these people not seen Oz? Which, I really don't begrudge Mariska the attention she gets at all because she seems like a cool person, it's just so bafflingly lopsided. Yeah, I don't wanna take anything away from Mariska, I really like her, but I don't understand why people can't see Meloni's talent. I'm not even asking for him to win (even though that would've been awesome!), but at least nominate him!

Slightly OT, but I think that Homicide is one of the most underappreciated shows (at least in terms of formal recognition like awards 'n' stuff) ever.

I wish Zooey Deschanel were more famous. I think she's beautiful, funny, has a great voice, and is just cute as a button.
And I agree about Scott Speedman. He just seemed to disappear after Felicity.

Homicide! Oz! Watch The Wire. David Simon, who wrote the Homicide book, writes and created the Wire. Many of the same actors from Homicide and Oz. And the cast of the Wire should all have emmys!

Completely concur about the top-notch quality writing and acting on Homicide and HBO's The Wire. Completely under-rated shows which I never understood.
Word to whomever said that Andre Braugher should have had several Oscars by now.

OMG The Wire is fucking amazing. I came late to the show and watched the first few seasons in one big chunk. Each and every actor on that show deserves tons and tons of Emmy's. Just amazing...all of them.

(I understand that HBO is showing The Wire seasons 1-4 on demand. This leads up to season 5 in January. Jettrink- season 4 not just break your heart but shatter it.) Sorry I realize this is off topic.

Guys, use the provided quote function, not the caret mark, to point to the preceding post, OK?

I agree with a lot of the choices in this thread, but I can't help but think that for quite a few of these people, they are as famous as they want to be.
One of my favorite actresses, who has been mentioned a lot, is Toni Colette. She seems to work steadily, has had a nice variety of roles and is able to sink back into a normal life between jobs. If I were an actor, hers is the career I would want.
