I had the biggest crush on Sydney Carton from A Tale of Two Cities. What's not to love about a self-pitying alcoholic? He does come through in the end, though, and that's what matters.

I just finished reading Carl Hiaasen's Skinny Dip, and boy was I crushing on the Mick Stranahan character. Such a manly man, that one (tan, buff, and tough-- the whole nine). Even though he was in his fifties, I pictured him looking a bit like Mike Rowe. Yum!

When I was growing up I was a huge fan of Larry McMurtry's books and I developed an undying crush on Emma Horton. I just adored her. And Danny Deck. He's the reason I have such a soft spot for troubled writer types. I haven't quite managed to kick that bad habit.

Not a crush on a character, but an author. I just read Neil Gaiman's Stardust and Smoke and Mirrors and was blown away. It's not the first work of his that I've read, but every time I read his writing the love is re-kindled and I can't stop raving about him for days. I'm the same way about Neil! I'll totally recommend him to anyone who will give me a chance. I think the love I have is for The Universe for letting this man's stories be heard. Without his stories, I think I would be one sad puppy.

I'm really looking forward to the movie version of Stardust.

And besides the whole "really talented author" thing, Neil Gaiman is also kinda hot. I've read American Gods, Stardust, Neverwhere and Good Omens in the last eight weeks or so, and after I'm done reading all that great prose, I flip to the inside back cover so I can stare at his picture.
I think I also have a crush on Richard from Neverwhere. Such a good guy.

Neil Gaiman is hot.
I still have a crush on Shel Silverstein* that dates back to the 3rd grade. Always thought he was so clever and amusing. Plus, he wrote music as well. A man after my own heart.
*I know he's dead.

I read it for school in tenth grade, I think, and I remember flipping through the book several times to reread the passage were it describes his long hair hanging around his gaunt face while he was hatching the plot to save the other guy, Charles somebody. Totally a case of the bad boy needing redemption from a good girl appeal.

I looked him up on his website and on Amazon.com and yup he's hot. He has that brainy, geek look (which is why I love Jeff Goldblum). Thanks to you guys for clueing me into his books. They look great...I'm going to read all of them. I just KNEW I was missing out on something!
