You know what, the steel wool episode MIGHT be in Kristy and the Snobs...because I think Louie was in it somewhere. But I DO remember Watson saying he's going to paint the car purple. But yeah, Karen was...annoying. So was their big fat cat Boo Boo.
I read that whole blog last night. Oh, the memories.
Did anybody ever read the Super Special where they are having the sleepover and all have to share a memory (I think it was for some summer assignment)? And then the other sitters write in with a memory. Claudia shares about when Mimi stood up for her for drawing herself as a butterfly, Logan shares about this first time seeing Mary Anne, etc. Baby Sitters Forever or something like that.
Oh man, Christopher Pike! I used to buy those too and hide them. LOL. The Chain Letter books were my favorite.

Giving into the urge can be dangerous ;D I resisted for a long time, but I finally gave in. I now have all the regular series, all the Super Specials, Friends Forever, California Diaries--I have everything except like four mysteries. I had a lot of the books already from when I was younger; luckily I hadn't given them away.
Collecting childhood books is a hobby of mine (actually, just collecting books is a hobby of mine!) I have a lot of the Sweet Valley books, too.
I do! I have an entire bookshelf dedicated to the BSC and SV. And I'm proud of it!

Well. I don't read that stuff. So there. Blaspheme! ;D Man, this thread is bringing back so many memories. BSC was pretty much my lit of choice for a good 2 years in elementary school. I would bounce back and forth between the regular and Little Sister volumes. One of the strongest memories I have is when Karen's Jewish friend was over for breakfast and she said that she couldn't eat bacon. This blew my little mind that there were actually people in the world who had never ever tried bacon! When I was seven I wrote a fan letter to AMM and got a reply. I'm sure it was some pre-written thing but it was pretty cool at the time.

Its actually in number 8, Boy-Crazy Stacey. Kristy is stuck at home and is the only BSCer who didn't get to go on vacation cause her mom wanted the new family to stay home and bond. That is the sitting adventure that Kristy writes to Stacey and Mary Anne. Sadly, I'm in my twenties and i didn't even have to look that up...

I believe you are correct. Kristy was distracted because Louie had got a piece of glass in his paw and she was calling the vet. Pissed me off that Kristy got blamed for the whole thing, yeah she should have been watching but is Karen so dumb that the first time paint started coming off, she wouldn't have stopped?
I have most of the BSC books, all of the super specials, some of the biographies and only a couple of CD(they seem to be hard to find). I don't have some of the later books but those books are pretty lame, not even decent snark worthy lame. And I skipped buying most of the mysteries because I get angry at the someone is breaking into my home/stealing my stuff/writing me nasty letters but I'm not going to tell my parents because I'm 13 and can handle it my own, plotlines. I do have the Chainletter book which is cool because it has all of the letters still inside.
I do have to applaud the BSC writers for coming up new materiel for all of the books, even the ones that could have been recaps. I'm reading the SV diaries (shameless plug-I recapped one of the LJ site) and 95% of the book is chunks from other books. Stupid ghostwriters exploiting dumb readers.

Oh yeah, that's right. Oh man, I'm losing my touch!
Heh, Boy Crazy Stacey was one of my favorites though. I totally want to eat at Gurber Gardens!

Gurber Gardens is the burger place with the mushroom seats right? I thought that place was the coolest because they mixed the ketchup and mustard together. Needless to say, I was a dork.

Wait, wasn't there something about mixing ketchup and mustard in one of Ann M. Martin's other books, too? The one with the 16 kids or whatever? This is a vague memory, so it may be totally off.

I'm pretty sure it's the same book. Stacey and Mary Anne go with the Pikes to Sea City as helpers and thats where they all go for lunch.

Oh yeah... that was probably the Pikes. Okay, but the book I am thinking about (the non-BSC one) had lyme disease in it, right? That is pretty much all I remember about it.
