I kinda hope someone unseats Anna soon, because she was a big force behind putting no one but celebrities on the covers of magazines. For some reason, I miss seeing models on the cover.

I think all the Vogue spreads look very samey-samey these days (except for when Grace gets full rein). It's very tame. And I'm not sure that everything needs to be sexed up to Roitfeld's level but a shake up could certainly be a good thing.

Off topic, but this is why I quit buying Women's Health magazine. About three years ago they stopped putting fit, athletic-looking women on the cover, and started using celebrities you know probably starve themselves to look like that. No thanks. I remember when being on the cover of Vogue could make someone's career (somewhere in a box I have Cindy Crawford's first cover). Now you only get the cover if you're already mega-famous.

HBO is also showing some sort of documentary on Vogue (I only caught a bit of it today). I don't know if it is old or not, but it was interesting to see the influence Grace brought to the magazine. I wonder what will happen if Anna gets that government job the rumors are talking about and Grace retires. Vogue could become very different. This is old, but: Me too. I haven't liked that magazine since they dropped the models and the sepia tone covers. It's a low-rent Self now and sucks.

I know that Anna has been a big Obama supporter and that he might want to thank her but would he really give her the job as Ambassador to England? That seems like a big deal kind of job that might just require some political experience. I don't doubt she's a savvy woman but ambassador? Really?

It would seem weird to be an ambassador to a country of one's origin. Doesn't that bring up allegiance issues? You're representing your adopted country in front of your original one? That said, perhaps it would be an easy assignment for a first-time ambassador like Wintour because the UK and US have a "special relationship" in terms of being closely aligned in many political endeavors.

I heard a discussion yesterday on one of the news shows about this, and the general consensus was that western European ambassadorships are largely ceremonial, since the State Department deals directly with the prime ministers in those countries. I don't know how well Anna would do--she's certainly the best at what she does now, but an ambassadorship would require a knowledge of history and diplomacy that I'm not entirely sure she has.

Pamela Harriman was our ambassador to France -- Anna will do just fine.
