The annual Hollywood issue[/color] is here. On the cover are Rooney Mara, Mia Wasikowska, Jennifer Lawrence, Jessica Chastain, Elizabeth Olsen, Adepero Oduye, Shailene Woodley, Paula Patton, Felicity Jones, Lily Collins, and Brit Marling. Who in 5 years will still have a viable movie career?

It's always such a crapshoot isn't it? Some of their covers are definitely more miss than hit.
I think Jennifer Lawrence has possible the most commercially viable career what with The X-Men & Hunger Games franchises plus she's shown that she can actually act. I think Mia is someone who I think has talent and will do well ala Cate Blanchett, critical but not necessarily commercial success.
I've never heard of Adepero unless shes such huge and comer thats completely flying under the radar. I get the feeling that both she & Paula can thank their inclusion for VF's need to try and include some diversity - but only on the insert pages. What's Patton done lately -MI4? I know she was in Precious and I do think she's stunning (although hate the hairstyle in the VF pic) but is she really a Hollywood IT girl?
I don't know that Shailene Woodley or Lily Collins are forces to be watched. I've heard of Marling and Felivity Jones but again not really feeling that either of them are going to be breakout stars.

She was the lead actress in Pariah, which has gotten very strong reviews.

I always feel like the first panel is "actresses we will keep pushing down your throat until you cry uncle" and the second and third panels are for their people of color/future character actors. Jennifer Lawrence and Jessica Chastain are happening NOW and may be good young replacements for people like Julieanne Moore, Renee Zellweger and Nicole Kidman. Paula Patton is gorgeous but I've only seen her in "Precious". She may be competing with Aisha Tyler for parts. Mia Wasi-what-sky is someone who I feel is the new Gretchen Mol and I refuse to accept her as the hot new thing. Lily Collins - the new Kate Hudson, a daughter-of...although I would at least grudgingly accept Kate Hudson as being charming. Lily Collins could be pretty if they did something with her eyebrows.

I think Mia is going to be around for a long time. She's never going to really bring people into a theater but she could be the next Blanchett. (She was jaw-droppingly good in In Treatment).
I can't even focus on who I think is going to make it or the diversity problem because they need to fire Annie IMMEDIATELY. I've seen this exact cover, like, five times. Blandsville.

I seriously can't believe they put all the minority actresses on the 2nd and 3rd pages AGAIN. The media continues to act like it is 1950. Well, at least they are clothed this year I guess.

I haven't seen a darn thing anyone on this year's Hollywood cover has ever been in, but I would guess that the ones who will be around in five years will be the ones with long-standing family connections in the entertainment industry--Patton, Olsen, Collins, etc. Maybe Mara, too, although her connections are more in the sports world (her sister, who is more like her peer, excepted), if the sequels to the "Dragon Tattoo" series are made. On another note, I rather like her Theda Bara / Clara Bow look. Nice change of pace to the samey-same, bland "glamor" styling.

This cover is ridiculous. I'm one of the whitest girls ever and it's just so...bland.
Jennifer Lawrence has an Oscar nom under her belt already and she's got the Hunger Games, so I think she'll be around for a while. Mia is actually a good actress and will probably continue to work steadily for years even if it's not in blockbuster movies. I have a feeling Rooney Mara will flame out sooner rather than later and I don't know about Jessica Chastain. She had an awesome 2011, and I'm hoping she sticks around. I like her.

From your mouth to God's vagina, hunter...seriously, I'm about ready to cancel my subscription for want of some excitement, espcially since Dominick Dunne and Christopher Hitchens passed.

That cover was shot by Mario Testino, not Annie.
