Sing it sister. Paris is the most overexposed (in everyway) person on the planet. I'll be soooo happy when the alarm goes off on her 15 minutes and she just GOES AWAY!

Dreamtime: Wouldn't it be wonderful if her cover was the least bought in the history of VF and if that was publicized the same way JAs most sold cover was publicized?

Vacant eyes notwithnstanding, Beyonce's obviously pretty enough to Graydon Carter to have her very own solo Vanity Fair cover.

That's a weird cover for VF. It sort of looks more like an In Style or Cosmo cover...

Very charitable interview with Paris. You can almost hear the grinding, straining sound of the reporter trying to make her sound like anything other than a total moron.

Apparently they "lightened" up Beyoncé for the cover of VF. Although her publicist claims that Beyoncé is simply light skinned. I would buy VF with Bey on the cover except for the fact that she is not (IMO) a hip hop artist. If they wanted to do a Hip Hop issue why not put a hip hop artist on the cover?

The cover says: "The 2005 Music Issue! HIP-HOP Kings and Queens"
I agree that it would have been nice to give the puff piece/photospread/cover to an actual hip hop artist (many would make a more interesting interview over Beyonce), but at the same time I am amazed the Vanity Fair has finally discovered hip-hop. It annoys me but not as much as Rolling Stones' "Women in Rock" cover featuring Britney Spears, Mary J Blidge, and Avril Lavigne among other women... who don't rock. At All.
To me with Vanity Fair it's sort of like when your grandpa tries to talk hip with you and just fails, but Rolling Stone should know better.

I liked the bird flu piece, even if it was a rehash of a show that I'd seen on PBS. The hip-hop portraits didn't really do it for me. I'm not really into hip-hop at all and Beyonce is boring.
I like the expose type stuff better, like the military recruitment story an issue or two back, and the story about the Turkish (I think) translator/whistle blower.

The Beyonce article was butt-kissing fluff. The Sugar Hill Gang article, the bird flu article, and the article about how Bush is ruining Crawford, TX were fascinating. I ended my subscription a while ago because I felt like VF was boring and very condescending in a "we know high society" way - which, I guess it's supposed to be but that turns me off. The article about The Odeon in NYC was a big snobby "we were so cool in the 80's and we did coke and we're better than you name drop name drop blahcakes" annoyance.

And more importantly, why oh why did they have to be naked?
