That seems to be a bug (I had it happen to one of my sims and it dropped him from Dean's List to academic probation). Mod the Sims 2 has a hack to fix it that you could try: Mod the Sims2

There are a few things that could be happening here:
1. If you got the hack for your same sex sims to have babies or the teenage woo-hoo hack, get rid of it. It'll interfere with your ability to send your sims to class. I think that ModtheSims has an application called "Clean Installer" that will help with any hacked item that interfere with your new expansion pact.
2. Make sure they are actually going to class--I mean if they don't feel well or are tired or not having fun, it's difficult to force them to class. I have had my Sims just run to campus for pizza and stuff.
3. I would also make sure that there little study meter is high enough. If it's not past the half-way mark, I think they are on academic probation, regardless. I am not sure if that is for the whole semester or whole year, but you could fail anyway if you never study.
4. Finally, if they are late, they could attempt to leave but miss the deadline for the classes.
If none of this helps, going to the Sims BBS is always helpful. Sooner or later, someone answers my questions.

TamaraDixon , the cheats for Sims 2 are different than the Sims, but you can still do the unlimited money cheat (CTRL + SHIFT + c, then type motherlode).
I ran into a problem in Sims 2. How do you break up an engagement? I forgot that I had a couple that was engaged, and a new guy in the neighbourhood fell in love with her and had her move in. Now they can't get married since she's still engaged.
I've tried to play as the Sim she is engaged to and invite her to his house. The only negative action they can do is 'argue'. But even after hours of arguing, their relationship meter isn't falling.
Help?

Have her invite the fiance around and then Woohoo the new guy once he's arrived. That should do it.

My fav family type? I have the go-go career girl. She started as an extra and is working her way up the acting ladder. Stay at home artistic hubby who paints and reads all day. They are doing very well thank you very much. No kids. Ever.
Hmmmmm...I think I'm simming my fantasy.

I'm still on the Sims-I have no desire for Sims2, really. I only have Deluxe, House Party, Hot Date and Vacation-I still want all the other expansions!
I'm a major cheater-all of my sims are beautiful millionaires with big beautiful houses and everything they could ever want.

Okay, got Sims2 yesterday. We (the kids and I) are finding it takes ages to load the neighbourhoods. We also can't get it moving along too quickly. The 'fastest' time speed is just plugging along a minute at a time. Makes for a slow game. I'm assuming its my computer? or anyone have suggestions?

Go to the forums at The Sims Resource, sign up, and then post in the Sims 2 Help forum, in the sticky thread labelled "Your Specs" or whatever. They tell you how to find out all the specifications on your computer and someone will help you figure out what you need to do (your video card, memory, etc). Now, I don't have the Sims 2, but from reading these forums, I have learned that the minimum specs on the box are hopelessly optimistic.

TamaraDixon , here are some things you can try to help speed the game (sorry! This is going to be long):
1) Get more physical RAM. If you're not sure what kind you'll need, look for the manuals that came with your PC. You'll need to know which motherboard you have to figure out which RAM you need. If you have any questions about that, PM me. If you notice your harddrive whirling like crazy while playing, chances are that you need more RAM (Win XP starts storing temp data to the harddrive instead of the memory).
2) While in the game, go to the Options/Settings. Make sure you're not at the highest level settings (I'm not sure exactly what they are called since I don't have Sims2 on this computer). There's one for reflections, Sims in background, etc. Also try playing at a lower resolution, since it's the heavy graphics that slow the game down.
3) You may need a better video card. I don't know the specs of your system, but maybe your video card is too old. You can get away with an older video card if your CPU is 2ghz or faster. The very minimum CPU speed (according to EA Games) is 850mhz, but you'd have to have a new-ish video card.
4) If your PC in general runs on the slow side, I would recommend cleaning up the harddrive (Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Diskcleanup). Also if you don't have it already, download and run SpyBot (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/). It'll kill SpyWare and other crap that can quickly accumulate on the PC, and you'd be surprised how much it can slow your PC's performance.
5) Make sure you're only running the Sims, so shut down the browser, instant messengers, etc. You can view which processes are running in the back ground with the task manager (CTRL+ALT+Delete).
BTW, the Pc I play with has a 2ghz CPU, 512MB RAM, and a new-ish graphics card. The game is very playable, but I'm on the low-end performance-wise. You can gauge your system by how many people your Sim can invite to parties -- 2 is the minimum and 8 is the maximum. Even with my system, I can only invite 2 people. In my case, it's my video card that causes the lower performance.
