I'm guessing O=other, but I might be wrong.
If you're ever tempted to read Michael Jackson fan fiction? Don't. Trust me.

...what are MSR, Post-Col, M/O and S/O? Are the last two Mulder/O and Scully/O? If so, what or who is O? MSR = Mulder/Scully Relationship (shippers' delight) Post-Col = set after alien colonization Got it in one, ane. Mulder has a girl who isn't Scully and vice versa.

::face/palm:: Okay, I should have guessed that one. 'Other' just did not even occur to me.
Thanks for the explanations, ane and ranma. There was no way I could have guessed post-colonisation though!
Heard about it, saw the sales in brain bleach soar...that was enough for me. ::shudders::

Slash is a term that comes not from horror movies, but from the original (ostensibly) homoerotic pairing of Kirk-slash-Spock. What a relief! I always assumed that slash fan fiction was an extreme form of fan fiction where there was this entire canon of work out there were people killed off characters in really violent unbelievable ways, like they do in slash horror flicks.

I have a bad habit of confusing 'slash' and 'snuff'. I think we share the same reasoning, cuz it all makes sense now.

Well, there is a subgenre of fanfiction called deathfic, where the death of one of the major characters serves as a plot point. Like Qui-Gonn dies in Obi-Wan's arms, or something. Such deaths are as mild or violent as you like.

Can you imagine how freaky it would be to be have deathfic written about you by people who can't seperate the charecter from the person?

Over in the Y'all Just Jellus thread, they're talking about Biblical slash. Biblical. Slash. That...is not a concept I would have ever come up with. And wish I had never heard of, because the mental images are not work safe. Or sanity safe. I am now going elsewhere to bleach my brain.

I read a TNG story once where Capt. Picard time-transports back to the garden of Gethsemene, and has sex with Jesus before he's arrested. No kidding.
There are also stories about slash pairings between various sorts of Pokemon creatures and even inhuman Bust-A-Groove video game dance characters.
