I have a theory about Twilight fan fic that it is especially easy to write due to the poor character development in the source material. I have noticed that the less they resemble the original characters, the better the story is.

I'm weird and always have to be reading soemthing online and I alternate among old threads from here (I'm reading the Britney ones now), Harry Potter fic, and Twilight Fic, and the only twilight fic i read are not Edward/Bella or Jacob/Bella, because I like the idea of Bella standing up for herself/getting a clue.

I still think it is funny how a lot of stories try to "butch" Edward up and make him into a foul-mouthed chick magnet.

Considering EL James plagiarised Twilight to write 50 Shades, I'm surprised anyone would get sued for plagiarising 50 Shades.
EL has also banned fanfic based on her books which is like...the least classy thing on the planet. I'm writing a Harry Potter fanfic, that involves the British Royal Family and Harry moving in with a foster family at nine behind Dumbledore's back. I have a five page first chapter that's more like an intro and 12 pages in chapter two, but I feel like there's so much exposition I have to write.

I mean, she didn't wake up and find them on her laptop with no idea of where they came from...right? Banning fanfic based on *her* fanfic... What a hypocrite!

That is pretty tacky. What is she afraid of, that someone will improve on the source material?

That is pretty tacky. What is she afraid of, that someone will improve on the source material? Well, it's not like that would be hard.

You ban it through the major fanfic sites, basically-people can still do it on their own pages, but I know authors have banned stories involving their characters on fanfiction.net-Anne Rice and Nora Roberts are two I can think of off the top of my head.
