What's the story on Aaron McGruder? Why isn't he doing The Boondocks anymore?

What's the story on Aaron McGruder? Why isn't he doing The Boondocks anymore? IIRC, he needed a break. I think he is coming back.

Boondocks is done forever. It was supposed to be just a six month hiatus but McGruder decided to not come back at all. Apparently he's too busy with the TV show.

Yet, Blondie. Hager and the Broom Hilda survive. Heh. Now I have never heard of Broom Hilda but if my paper takes away Hagar and Blondie, I will riot in the streets of Tampa. Now if only they could get rid of that putrid, unfunny and sorry excuse of a comic strip FBOFW then they can have Hagar and Blondie.

I love Pearls before Swine. Hands down my favorite strip.
And I hate Cow and Boy. Hate it!!! I can live with Beetle Bailey, and Blondie, and all the others, but Cow and Boy seriously grates. It's not well written, very poorly drawn (I can't see half the drawing lines....) and seems be trying for a kind of Calvin and Hobbs vibe, but this is not a six year old and his stuffed tiger friend, this is a maybe 10-12 year old and a cow, for Christ's sake. A. Real. Cow. It's not "sweet." It's almost terrifying. Like this kid who goes to school looking like something out of Hee Haw, gets laughed at, and whose only friend is a cow that he dresses up in hats and pantaloons, is someday going to get his dad's rifle and do some serious "correction" on the kids at school.
It's like, don't these cartoonists get it? Illiterate crocs, funny. Cow obsessed 12 year olds, not so much.....

I'm going to miss Foxtrot. As far as I can tell our paper has just shifted stuff around on the page. We moved to a different state a year ago and I miss reading Pickles and Arlo and Janis, too. Maybe I'll write a letter to the editor. (It's a REALLY small town paper). I know you can get 'em online but it isn't the same. - however - I am embarrassed to admit I do read FOOB online just so I can get the Greecie snark with my first cup of coffee in the morning.

Our paper ony carries one of my five favorite strips. Our paper carries very few comics that I even like. I haven't bought the daily paper this week so I don't know what's taking over for Foxtrot, but I can't imagine I will like it.
Current favorites (in no particular order)
9 Chickweed Lane Pearls Before Swine Monty Clear Blue Water Doonesbury (the one our paper carries)
I also enjoy Pickles (nope), Big Top (nope), Pooch Cafe (nope) are you sensing a theme here?
But we have Beetle Bailey boy, so we are covered.
I read most of my comics online, and will probably continue to do so. Newspapers are dying anyway.

Johnny Hart, the creator of BC and Wizard of Id, has died. I wonder if papers will keep running his "classic" strips instead of just giving a new cartoonist a shot?

I hope not. It seems like strips are running forever these days, regardless of whether the creators have died or retired: Dennis the Menace, Hagar the Horrible, Peanuts. Put them out to pasture, already.
